My wife who has only watched a few minutes of this season, actually watched the entire episode with me this week. She was asking questions and seemed to enjoy it. Having to try to explain what was happening, kinda made me realize how dopey and just stupid the story is. I'm going to finish this season, but what a let down it's become after a full year of getting myself hyped.

But after reading this thread might not even do that

Holy shite. Did Seven just mercy kill Echeb? WTF?

Okay, I have a follow-up on this one. It seems that a few years ago, during the Kevin Spacey controversy, the actor who originally played Icheb, Manu Intiraymi, went on Twitter and repeatedly defended Spacey while viciously attacking one of the accusers. From Wiki:
quote:

On October 30, 2017, in the wake of Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp's allegations of sexual assault against Kevin Spacey, Intiraymi posted a comment to his Twitter account: "As far as the #KevinSpacey witch hunt liberal pussy nonsense 'He was able 2leave before the accounter [sic. ] went any further' Enough said. #PCcrap". This and other derogatory comments caused a negative reaction among many Star Trek fans, including a Change.org petition asking for him to be left out of any future Star Trek conventions, and to "consider if it would be in the best interest of their company to continue to allow such a person to be associated with the production of any new content." [1] The part of Icheb was recast for the show Star Trek: Picard.
And then his eyeball was ripped out before Seven of Nine blasted him through the heart and killed him.

So this is another issue I have. Picard being pro refugee, being a renegade when it’s for the greater good makes perfect sense.

I dont get the whole refugee thing. They released a map of the Alpha and Beta quadrant power and territory years ago. The Romulan fricking star empire was huge. They have many habitable planets may of which they got by conquest and yet how are they needing federation help? I dont get it.

Its not like their sun went Supernova right away, they obviously knew a head of time. They probably had time to set up a government , move their senate else where, and disassemble their shipyard before it even blew.

The only thing they might have needed was realizing they did not have enough ships to get everyone off the planet, but in which case that is just helping with non essential personel. The Romulans themselves should still be quite powerful.

It's not very good. Only the SJWs on here are pretending to like it to get woke points.

I liked it, but I'm not subscribing to another streaming service.

It's on CBS All-Access? I'll probably pick that up for the NCAA tournament and binge this while I've got it.

Anyone have any other suggestions on recent CBS content worth a binge?

Ranking the Star Trek series now that we're pretty much halfway through Picard.

1. The Next Generation- best ensemble and stories
2. Deep Space 9- Dominion storyline is peak Star Trek
3. The Original Series- iconic characters
4. Enterprise- surprisingly great stories and retconning
5. Discovery- 2nd season was actually great
6. Voyager- should've been better but the cast brought it down
7. Picard- still have some episodes left but doesn't install faith that it will get any better

The evil Romulan chick is pretty fine.

Jane Sterling.

They definitely have a Cruel Intentions/Jaime-Cersei vibe with her and her brother.

I will say I did like this episode a bit more than the last couple. I wonder if the Borg on the ship will rebel against the Romulans to help Picard.

This is the first time that I feel like we got a real glimpse of the old Picard - when he got angry when that scientist suggested that the Borg could change.

My thoughts:

- patrick stewart is a bit too feeble to pull off his old picard presence. i want to like him but his voice quakes and the sword fight was laughably cringeworthy.

- oh my, all civilizations are ruled by women! its a bit over-the-top on this regard. Starfleet, Romulan Empire, the Lady-planet where Picard plucked the young padawan from and the blade runner planet all share one thing in common.

- having not watched a shred of star trek since the early 1990s after the laqutus borg storyline i'm rather enjoying the storyline of romulans picking apart an abandonded borg cube and picard being rogue but the acting is a bit..shall we say...'stiff' to put it mildly. the material is there..what happened on Mars?? ..but the execution thus far has been pretty weak. so they beamed picard into a random spot on the cube with no romulan supervision and out of the ENTIRE MASSIVE CUBE he just happened to be one room away from the romulan meditation room when the android ripped her way through the floor?

Just watched EP 7.

I thought it was actually pretty well done. When Frakes goes from Granpappy Riker to 'Shield up!' Riker I popped a little. His performance makes want to see him more involved in season 2. Not too many complaints this week.

Yeah, Frakes never missed a beat getting back into the Riker character. I enjoyed the episode as a whole but again, Frakes' performance only takes me back to my other complaint of Stewart just not playing Picard's character.

I don't think Stewart's acting is bad at all, it's just not Picard. When Troi ran him down for mocking the android that made perfect sense for Troi's character. But when would Picard ever mock a young android for being afraid/paranoid?

I agree. Stewart is playing an alternate version of Picard. Of course, it doesn't help that he is really old, which may be swaying him a bit towards that end, but nonetheless, the real Picard is gone.

Where's Janeway? Will she swoop in at the last moment and save everyone's asses? Will she and Seven resurrect Data?

Stewart's really old age is obviously having a huge impact on the character.

Seven taking over the cube was awesome.

Well, I think I've binged most of the shows I wanted to watch, and I want to watch the last 3 episodes just so I can watch the Red Letter review. So here we go, now that the whole thing is out, bring on the crap. The more it sucks, the more I enjoy stealing it.

Episode 7 thoughts:

The sunglass-wearing admiral chick melding a "previously on....." vision into the Doctor's brain. And she has to chew the electronic tracking device. Is that a breath mint product placement or something?

I think it's pretty clear that the LOTR elf guy exists only to piss off sci fi/fantasy nerds. Even his name, Elnor, sounds like an elf name. This is classic contempt for the audience. Picard's line about how he hated Sci Fi makes more sense every time I see this character. And oh my god, elf-jedi's acting and dialogue are horrible.

Deana looks like a melted frog person, par for the course. Bleh. And Riker is always cooking, like a bitch. Check.

They have a kid, and she's an amazing girl. What other kind is there?

Stewart's age is painfully apparent in every scene.

Ralphie just sucks.

And what is this episode? It's just a callback circle-jerk and not relevant to anything. It's like they're on vacation or something.

"Classic Picard arrogance." Wow. This show takes shots at Picard at every turn. Gotta wonder why they deliberately do that.

So Troi and Riker's son died because of android racism? What a coincidence.

Picard getting sternly lectured by a woman again. Check.

Elrond is officially useless. The amazing Romulan woman put down her phaser and challenged him to a karate fight, which she won, of course.

And she casually kills Hugh. I guess they thought he was a cherished character or something. But she doesn't shoot Elrond after picking up her weapon and before beaming out. That's solid writing right there.

The kid is playing around on her smart phone during the meal and finds the answer. This show goes out of its way to be stupid.

I think this show is an intentional frick you to Star Trek fans. There are far too many outrageously stupid things on this show for it to be simple incompetence. I really don't think there's any other explanation.

Episode 8, incoming.

Episode 8 thoughts:

Sweet. The jihad vag origin story. "Our foremothers." Nice. It reminds me of the last season of Xena: Warrior Princess when it went full wiccan lesbian.

So, only the lesbian monks remember when robots fricked up the galaxy "centuries ago?" Seems like someone else would also have written that down. Also, why would they keep it secret? That's just stupid.

Elrond sword fighting again, and not one of these Romulan security guys brought a gun.

And he has to be rescued by amazing woman Seven, who he then hugs like she's his mommy.

Ralphie sternly lecturing Picard about Agnes (check), and he's stupid and wrong and drawing all the wrong conclusions (check).

frick Lady telling Picard to "shut the frick up. frick." Check.

Ralphie sternly lecturing the gay, nutless EMH guy. Check. Go smoke some space crack and chill, bitch.

If the Romulan chick is a secret fighter for what she thinks is a noble cause, why does she relish being evil like Dr. Evil or something? Pretty inconsistent.

Seven of Nine continues to be worthless.

Holy shite. Each holographic Rios guy is a worse actor than thee last. What range, from homo, to condescending homo to Scottish guy to super close-talking homo.

An now they're all in a pointless limp dick wannabe therapy session. Nice.

Damn, even the chick in sick bay yells at Picard.

The ancient robot apocalypse happened because of "hubris." They fricking really fricking like that fricking word on this fricking show, frickers.

Now the captain is in a therapy session. That makes sense. Ralphie does remind me of some broke-arse 80's movie inner city high school guidance counselor.

Agnes: "Sup, everybody. I promise I won't murder anyone like I did the other guy."
Everyone: "K. Cool. Go ahead and sit down. Let's eat and talk about our feelingas"

Picard going to take charge and drive the ship. PSYCH. He's old and stupid. Womp womp.

2 more long, shitty episodes to go. They should make this an internet challenge, see who can make it all the way through.

Ep. 9. yeah, buddy.

Main bridge, Picard sits in the corner of the room like a bitch, doing nothing. It's getting pretty thick

Agnes murdered Maddox, but we're all cool now. "Change of plans." Smile and take a seat on the bridge.

The ship is being attacked by giant flowers. Not things that look like giant flowers. They specified. They are actual giant flowers.

Picard is dying. Fantastic news. Season 2 is canceled. Maybe the women will stop yelling at him all the time.

They found a way to shoehorn Data in there, as Soong's son, despite Soong saying he had no real children.

The scary, mind-blowing images that the jihad vag put into Agnes' mind were just some random planet and explosion images with some vague cliche stuff about destroying the impure humans. Yeah, definitely a reason to murder a guy. I think maybe Agnes is just a crazy bitch.

They're really not joking. The planetary defense system of the robot world is giant space flowers.

One episode left. Can't wait.

Here we go, the series, I mean season finale:

I didn't realize that the last two episodes were a two-parter. That makes no sense, because it's not an episodic series. The whole season is basically just a 10-parter.
They obviously just wanted to be able to advertise it as a "2 PARTER."

Again, why is this a secret that has to be kept by a special lesbian book club? If there was a danger that alien super beings would come and destroy everyone in ways so disturbing, the thought of it causes people to beat themselves to death with rocks, wouldn't they want people to remember that?

Evil Suki is way finer than regular Suki.

Synths summoning the super beings. The buildup begins.

Rios fixes the ship with the all-purpose, thought-controlled synth-made universal tool.

The story progression is not bad in this one.

Until you get to the poor man's Oceans 11 caper, in which super-android perimeter security guards are fooled because Rios hides a bomb inside of a soccer ball, which he happens to be carrying. Don't mind me. It's just my soccer ball that I carry around everywhere.

Soong's son who turned evil and sided with the synth genocide plan turns not evil after he finds out about a murder. Genocide, okay. Murder, bad.

Picard is back in the captain's chair, because it's only him and Agnes on the ship. But frick it. Patrick Stewart's obvious dislike for this character and genre be damned. It's pew pew time!

Here we go with the space flower defense system, and teh space flower budget was not insignificant. I am officially an idiot for watching this. Who thought this shite up? They could have been anything, satellites, a giant shield, etc. but it's space flowers.

Seven of Nine chick fight. Her titties aren't jiggling around too much, which can mean only one thing. Sad. Time. Why you punish me?

Agnes uses the aforementioned ultimate multi-tool to redesign the ship during the battle, enabling her and Picard to win. So, captain boner de-activate. Picard basically just steered the ship while the amazing murderer doctor saved them.

Picard does get badass with some kamikaze actions, though.

But Riker shows up like Ice T on Twitter, "shut up bitch, take this Armada up your arse." I'm paraphrasing, but nice. That was nice.

We never get to see the inter-dimensional super beings, just some robot Cthulhu tentacles coming through a portal. They spent all of the FX budget on the space flowers. That happened.

Picard starts dying on the floor of ship, so they beam him down to the planet so he can finish dying in front of them. That was really thoughtful of them.

Elrond cries into another woman's belly like she's his mommy again, this time Raffi. They really go out of their way with this. He is definitely a troll character. Nothing else makes sense.

But it doesn't matter, because Picard isn't dead. They saved his brain waves and made him into a synth. Season 2 confirmed. Wow.

Oh, and Seven is a lesbian now, despite having had at least two marriage-level relationships with men on Voyager. They saved that one right for the end, just so they could hit for the cycle, I guess.

And there it is. You officially do not have to watch this shite, the worst series of the last decade.
