Chubby Alice waddles up and takes a look at a screen for 2 seconds and immediately blurts out some sciency babble about the spatial harmonics lab and bam!! We've got representation!!
She wasn't even in earshot of the conversation, just rolls up on her mark , doesn't address the captain at all, and smugly gives her line. Absolutely awful.

The Orville was the last great Star Trek show.

And she's clearly a lesbian bulldyke character for representation. So in this version of Star Trek, rank is apparently optional. Just rolling up and interrupting the Captain, eh, no big deal.

What did she expect the alien to do with her glasses?
I may just watch this episode to see what happens with the glasses.

Dude, I may just watch this whole season for the laughs, like Mystery Science theater style.
Every clip I've seen is awful and cringe. I saw another scene where the acting is just really C movie level. It was one of the instructors talking. She was clearly another lesbian character.

I wasn't in the loop that the 1st episode was airing for FREE on YouTube. I guess you can still go watch?
Well, it's not going so well. Multiple YouTubers have already ratio'd this POS show, from showing old DS 9 clips to ... this!
An inanimate Spock action figure chair stream!
Spoilers! Yes, the Spock action figure easily got more views and did it much faster too.

On a related note, Red Letter Media’s season one review of DS9 part one, has 114k views after 4 hours.

But did everyone feel included and special?

THE FIRST 15 MINUTES: A white mother who was tricked/forced into piracy as the only means of feeding her diverse son (um... replicators?) is sentenced to a Federation Rehabilitation center after being complicit in a theft that led to the death of a Starfleet officer (ostensibly someone's son), and she and her young son are separated. Holly Hunter so believed that it was wrong to take the woman's son from her because she was really a victim of the white male pirate who lied to her, tricking her into a life of crime, that she "left Star Fleet in disgrace."

If tweet fails to load, click here. As expected, mercifully it sounds like this show is headed for the scrap heap after just one season. Hope it was worth it for them.

I had my Pluto Star Trek TOS channel on yesterday, as background noise as I work. They'd put SF Academy in the rotation as a free show. They're trying hard to get viewers to sample.
