Eh, it’s hard to believe advisors wouldn’t be considering this. Would you rather have a power hungry potential psychopath that can’t produce heirs rule, or a by all accounts upstanding guy who doesn’t crave power and can start a new, stable line of succession?
To run in and do the same thing, Jon would get walked over. All the support for Daeny was about "breaking the wheel", which she had the ambition to do. Jon is a good ruler in battle, but ineffectual everywhere else. He's Ned Stark Part 2.
Would Varys even consider Ned as a good ruler? No. Yet he wants Ned with a Targaryen bloodline, one that has a tendency to go mad? How in the world does that make sense?

quote:This is one of the oddest things to complain about. Varys has to find someone to unite everyone... someone with a claim because if they get power from elsewhere, it's for personal gain. So that's a prerequisite for him.
In the books, his Targaryen angle is fleshed out, but in the show, it's so dumb.
quote:The hope with the two Targ children was to raise them better and have the male be like Rhaegar. None of the other bloodlines offered that opportunity.
Why not literally ANY other bloodline for the "good of the realm"? It may sound good on the surface, but it's contradictory and self defeating upon even simple examination.

Jon wasn’t born of incest, so I don’t think going mad is nearly as big of a concern. Also, I think the idea of a King who is half Rhaegar and half Stark would be highly appealing to influential people in Westeros.

Also in the books there was another Targaryen that with the help of Dorne had already moved an army north towards Kings Landing while Dany is still across the sea.

quote:Varys thinks Ned would be a great man. He tries to save him. Ned never wanted to rule either. He didn't even want to be hand.
Would Varys even consider Ned as a good ruler? No.
quote:Because Jon isn't Ned. And he isn't mad king. He's the Rhaegar people have been wanting. How is it not obvious that people want to follow Jon? Fight with him? Trust him?
Yet he wants Ned with a Targaryen bloodline, one that has a tendency to go mad? How in the world does that make sense?
Seriously, this is one of the dumbest complaints I've seen.

So only Targaryens are capable of making good rulers? Not any other bloodline?
So Varys wants to wipe out the only pure Targ left and just leave Jon, who is only half?
What you're saying makes no sense.

Maybe and will probably never know as I doubt another book will get written. Would be a good twist if he showed up in the next episode to help Dany and Jon.

How on earth could they pull that off now?

All true. All very disappointing.
And for the spoiler about Jon going back to castle black...they just had some huge foreshadowing on that one.
Him going North is one thing. No idea how the show could justify another white walker storyline or another nights watch.
I’ve yet to see any indication that either the white walkers or a giant, magic wall made of ice is even possible without the children, who are now extinct.

Would be cool if Jon and Sansa married

That ship has sailed, my friend.

I’m pretty sure neither would be ok with that. Though Jon was fine with making out with his aunt.

I’m pretty sure Sansa doesn’t have the highest standards rn.

Don’t put all of this past D&D. It’s probably true
Cracks me up that we blame D&D for this potential ending when they 100% are getting a stamp of approval from GRRM.
The only reason the books would be different is if GRRM changes due to the negative feedback.
