I'd say mine would have to be Glory

eta: The OP for The Patriot thread was right. It feels like we barely get any big budget civil/revolutionary war movies these days. It'd be nice to take advantage of some of the newer things we could do and have some big budget movies on these topics. They could be truly epic.

ETA: Also how does the board feel about the film Lincoln? It was much more about the changes to the constitution so the war almost feels like a backdrop but I can't believe I forgot to mention it in my OP as its one of my favorites.

You mean a bunch of CGI nonsense, instead of actual acting, directing, writing and cinematography?

No thanks.

Glory is the only one that stands out to me.

DWW is really good but I personally don't think of it as a Civil War movie.

I can't imagine any use for cgi in a civil war movie other than just filling in the battlefield.
Not using cgi for soldiers made Dunkirk look odd.

Def Glory, but I also really like Gangs of New York.

I'd have to say Glory.
Gettysburg is good, but runs long.

Gone with the Wind is set during it, so it counts.
Red Badge of Courage - the book is great, has anyone seen the movie from the 50s? Was it any good?

Glory. DWW doesn’t count. Gettysburg and Gods & Generals are great too

My favorite part of Glory is when the Confederates wipe them out.

And most of you are too young to remember the mini-series ‘North and South’.
