Spider-Man was part of the Avengers though.

He is still homo sapien, not homo superior

Repeating it doesn't make it true.

Mutants aren't made, they are born. They were mutants from the start of their lives, its just puberty is typically what reveals it, although it often manifests itself before.

Spider-Man is just a regular superhero who got his powers through a lab accident. He's not a mutant. He's fought alongside them and the Avengers, but Spider-Man would certainly never be eligible to be a member of the X-Men.

Superman is an alien, so unless you're counting Martian Manhunter as a "mutant" because he isn't a homo sapien, then Superman isn't a mutant. But this debate is stupid.

Because technically, he was a mutant right?

No. Mutants are a natural progression in the human race as they are born with their powers being a part of their genetics. Once they hit puberty their powers will manifest.

Spidey's power came from a spider bite, in other words it came solely from an outside source.

While he could be called a "mutant" in that he changed, it doesn't fit with the Marvel Universe's definition of what classifies one as a "mutant".

If they get riled up, they're not genuine comic nerds. DC doesn't have mutants.

That thread would be even shorter.

Pick one Xman and then you've got a discussion worth having.

Ex.

Wolverine would get his adamantium arse handed to him by Spiderman.

Given the time of year, I would love it if we had a 64 superhero tournament to see who would be the last superhero standing.

Between Phoenix-Jean Grey, the Hulk, Superman, the Flash, Silver Surfer, Martian Manhunter, and Thor, along with a host of others that escape me at the moment, I would think after the first round, there would be some pretty hotly contested battles.
