Speaking of disturbing horror movies… The Sadness (2022)

This is a Taiwanese movie with a unique take on the zombie format that has won a bunch of awards in the horror space.
Instead of killing you and making you undead, or just making you extremely angry…. The disease turns you into a sadist who will do anything to frick with you in the most extreme way possible.
I will say, it’s certainly earned it’s reputation for being extreme but it never really takes that extra step that made me hate the movie. It’s a pretty big budget film and the movie has a glossy look to it that definitely makes the fricked up stuff in it less unnerving. Like it’s not cynical even if it is pitch black.
That being said, I know there are more fricked up movies out there but this certainly really really has a lot of stuff that really push the boundaries of a rather mainstream film. Mainly there is a lot of s
horrible sex stuff though it’s generally not shown too much. But still, when a man has his genitals rammed into a barbed wire pole and that’s not the worst thing to happen in the movie…. It’s certainly not for everyone.

I can’t imagine it was worse than what I read years back on here about Serbian film. I watched the sadness and there was some really fricked up stuff but I decided I’d never watch Serbian film

Tried watching it on Prime last night...
Takes a shot at the last two years right away...
"This pandemic, is a hoax...so the low-lifes that own the media can buy low and sell high...so when the economy comes back they can just raise all the prices everywhere."
So I thought maybe this would be social satire? But it just turns into a gore-fest. I had to turn it off. Not my tempo.

It was a real interesting movie. It’s extreme horror done really well and there was a decent story on top of it.
The gore is so extreme that it becomes cartoonish (in a good way)
I highly recommend it but will certainly say it’s not for everyone.

I can’t speak to firefly. But this movie treats everything as a high concept anime sort of presentation. It’s very well made. But very very grotesque.
