I preferred the early days where the kids had zany adventures and they did a political or current events episode occasionally.

Same. I miss those days.

Episode was a solid B. Little bit of a letdown considering they took 2 weeks for it, but still had some good funny moments.

Whole lotta butt hurt up in here. If Kirk and Vance can handle a little satire why can't some of you titty babies?

Because people like Kirk and Vance know that they’re just riding the gravy train of the current power structure (something this episode very explicitly pointed out about Kirk) and if you don’t ultimately care about how people perceive you, you can get pretty rich and powerful doing it. They know that leaning into it just raises their profile - unbothered in the eyes of conservatives and at least willing to self deprecate in the eyes of liberals.

On the flip side, actual lower and middle class conservatives are still trying to contort this current climate to fit their traditionally held sense of moral superiority over the immoral liberals and because those things don’t line up, anything like South Park that tries to lay that bare is perceived as an attack on them personally.

South Park’s quality has inarguably diminished as our social climate has become harder and harder to parody. It worked so well in the 90s and early 2000s because there was still a norm of behavior, both socially and politically, that everyone largely abided by - except South Park. It’s the whole foundation of counterculture comedy. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to present as counterculture when the President is doing stuff that would have been career suicide for a CEO let alone a politician just 10 years ago. That they’re still figuring out a way to produce something that resonates on some level is honesty impressive in its own right, even if it feels like we may never get another Asspen, Marjorine, Scott Tenerman, etc

Satire is fine when it goes both ways

We literally had 4 years of a president that didnt know what day it was and south park didnt touch it

This is what sucks. Theyve gotten lazy and creating something from nothing is gone for them.

Don't disagree. However, they have been ripping on woke stupidity for 26 years.

Imo if they're ripping on both sides, I don't particularly care if it's aimed at an individual or a philosophy.

We've had 7 seasons of Politically Correct principal....

We get 2 episodes of Power Christian principal and now its not fair?

I dont remember anyone on this board complaining when south park made fun of anybody until this season.

I think it's hysterical and Trump and his admin are very easy to make fun of.

They provide plenty of material on a daily basis.

People seem to think they are ripping right wing positions now rather than just ridiculous positions like they always have.

They ripped trannies competing in womens sports and woke shite in schools not because they were leftist positions, but because they are ridiculous things.

This is echoed in Cartman's actions and reactions in the last 2 episodes. The real world has stolen the edgy schtick from comedians. The real world has gotten to the point of parody and left shock comedy to only being slightly amplified observational comedy.

I like to stir the pot and make fun of MAGA as much as anyone on this board

But Trey and Matt are absolute posers for everything they said they stood for by not touching Kamala and Joe

ETA: as far as relevance South Park is completely irrelevant for the modern culture. People under 25 aren’t watching or caring
