Preview of the first episode.... here we go

quote:

NEW YORK - Monday, January 31st - Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny do not get to wear their pajamas to school on the most important day of the year in the season 25 premiere of “South Park,” appropriately titled “Pajama Day,” airing on Wednesday, February 2 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central.

After failing to show respect for their teacher, PC Principal revokes Pajama Day privileges for the entire 4th grade class. Cartman is distraught. The kids aren’t going to stand for it but PC Principal refuses to back down.

IMO, that looks promising. Garrison back to being a teacher, a focus on the actual kids, possibly a plot that is not just whatever is happening in the world that week.

I think so too. Last few seasons were good but the constant parallels to the real world grew tiresome. I enjoy the references and things like that, but the show shines when it's just the residents of South Park up to their usual bullshite

Many many of the best episodes of all time don't have much to do with current events.

I don't even mind the current event stuff, but SP is usually at its best when it's just the boys getting into some random bullshite.

I do think the continuation storylines of the last few seasons have also hurt it. While it works at times, a lot of times it felt like it was handcuffed by that strategy. Or maybe it's just that they went a little too hard on the "season storyline" thing.

Either way, I am glad it's back in whatever capacity we can get it. It's one of my favorite shows of all time and it's been too long. And as much as they don't need new characters often, PC Principal is great.

We haven't had a new regular episode of south park in over 2 years. So glad they are back.

Honestly, how are they going to explain PC Principal hiring back Garrison? A reminder that when elected after being fired, Garrison made PC Principal suck his balls.

Is every episode set to air on a different streaming service each?

The regular season episodes will be on Comedy Central then the next day on HBO like usual. The specials/movies are Paramount+ only.

I agree. The first season where they attempted it was flawless. It was one of the best seasons in the run of the show. When they tried to continue the bit with the seasons that came after, those seasons simply couldn't recapture it. They struck lightening once, but couldn't make it strike every year. I think South Park, as a whole, is better when everything resets each week.

I think the Pandemic special was and maybe still is on HBOMax but that was an oddball that counted as Season 24.

I'm just glad I can watch it on Comedy Central instead of having to resort to piracy. I finally saw part 2 of Covid a couple of weeks ago.

BTW, did anyone else get the sense that they changed what happened to Cartman in the new time line? It was kind of lazy of them to just make him a drunken homeless guy. He goes from being a very suspicious and possibly fake jewish guy to being a homeless guy, with no explanation. I feel like they had something before that but it was changed.

I loved the symmetry.

If Cartman is doing well in life the whole world is going to shite.

If Cartman is suffering the world prospers.

I guess, but they could have at least said that. Instead, he just shows up at the end as a drunken homeless guy, with no real explanation.
