ETA: Looks like the penguin rumors are true. Here'a a Forbes article from Mark Hughes. Good read.

quote:

This is all to say, calm down and be patient, fans. The Batman project is moving forward and everything is lining up. Matt Reeves is a brilliant filmmaker and writer, having given us one of the greatest sci-fi film series in cinema history -- Planet of the Apes -- filled with incredible character-driven narratives and high drama amid spectacular visual effects and action filmmaking. Both of Reeves' installments of that series (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes) deserved Best Picture nods and Reeves himself deserved Best Director consideration, not to mention the shocking lack of any VFX Oscar wins for either film (among the worst mistakes in ceremony's history).

The Penguin is one of a few villains appearing in the film. The character was reportedly previously part of the Birds of Prey project before being replaced by the crime lord Black Mask, in order to reserve the Penguin's first new on-screen appearance for Reeves' Batman movie.

Sources close to We Got This Covered have revealed that Oswald Cobblepot, aka the Penguin, will be one of the main antagonists in the Dark Knight’s next feature. The character’s inclusion was a popular rumor that got some heavy traction last year, and even drew the attention of celebrities like Josh Gad, who practically ran his own social media campaign in a bid to land the part. Though it remains to be seen who’ll be wearing the iconic top hat for the role, it’s said that Reeves specifically requested for the Penguin not to show up in the upcoming Birds of Prey, allowing the character to be saved for an encounter with Bruce Wayne.

If true, who would you like to see play him?

I’ll go with a black wash in Idris Elba. Why the frick not since Penguin isn’t that good of a villain.

Danny Devito is way too old.

It will never work.

The Arkham series had the best Penguin adaptation (in film/games). I'd look to draw some inspiration from that.

BM and Devito were really well cast.

I can't think of a perfect fit.

Adrien Brody has the nose for the part but I think Eddie Marsan (who plays Terry Donovan on Ray Donovan) would be a good choice.

If The Rock's schedule is too busy, the get Zac Efron for it. He's like 5'6.

Thats the face of The Penguin.

For the love of christ please no.

Josh Gad is the least talented most annoying actor in Hollywood.

The article mentions Jonah Hill who is fat and short. I mean, he's not DeVito short, but still.

Is he fat right now, or in one of his disturbingly not fat stages...

I'd be down with a few people but Michael Stuhlbarg would be my choice. He's 5'7.

yea that dude sucks.

i hate how he tried to portray LeFou as gay. I mean a dork nerd who is "friends with" the baddest best dude, can envy him to the point of wanting to be him without wanting to frick him.
