Yeah, fun fact: out of all the mammals, in our top physical condition, humans can run for the longest amount of time. This is proven with our only major competitor: the horse. Multiple people have outrun a legion of horses in a marathon.

The only one that may be better than us (and in very specific circumstances) is the Husky, and it has to be in below freezing environments with snow. Take out the snow, our elite athletes will beat Huskys.

of course the humans could just retreat from the area and the military could just drop a nuke.

I'm sorry OM but that article is, do I dare, horseshite. I definitly have heard of horses covering 50 miles in 4-5 hours pretty easily.

I'm assuming that this film is the last in a trilogy that tells how the planet became dominated by intelligent apes. If that is so, and this movie is as good as it is being advertised, I'd be all in favor of them re-making Planet of the Apes to complete the story in this continuity.

Gorillas are far too heavy to ride horses. It makes the movie unrealistic and literally unwatchable

As someone who hasn't seen the first or second ones and is kinda interested in starting the trilogy, do they ever explain this?

Humans can wipe out hundreds of thousands of other humans in a relative short amount of time. We can also obliterate organized groups from 10,000 feet in the sky and even have the technology to send machines that can target specific buildings, locations, people with advanced weaponry.

I feel like it would be difficult to become immersed in a film like this knowing that apes on horseback are taking over the world.

The humans have all lost contact with each other. I don't necessarily think that a group of random people would know how to use and deploy a nuclear bomb either, and maybe they wouldn't be able to find them either.

The first movie kind of explains that.

It's a movie about intelligent talking Apes fighting people and taking over the world and the Gorilla on horseback makes it too unrealistic for you?

Loved the first one. Didn't think the second one could best it. I loved the second one. Not sure this one can best it... Make me wrong again

Yeah the fighting is like us fighting the Natives in the Old West but with machine guns now.

Reminds me of the Postman.

This guy disagrees.

ETA: Dredd is an amazing reboot. Too bad it didn't gain the audience it deserved.

Fury Road was a good reboot of Mad Max. Hoping they continue with Max and not focus on Furiosa.

No they are not. The average male western gorilla weight 350 pounds with females weighing 120-180 pounds. A large horse could carry a gorilla.

The entire premise is flawed. The reason the original worked logically is because they didn't fight humans to overthrow us we nuked ourselves. If it ever came down to some ape vs man fight like I'm the movies we win easily. I mean they've got a gorilla taking bullets from a fricking machine gun like it's a pellet gun or some shite and then he defies physics by getting shot in the air with said machine gun and still having enough forward momentum to land on said helicopter. I mean who knew when you made apes smarter your average silverback turns into king Kong

I think the virus mutates some more and inflicts more damage.
