No one wanted this movie. So they're going to double and triple down on Boba Fett and Obi Wan?

I hope you're ready for "Rose: A Star Wars Story". There will be a Mace Windu cameo, a Lego Millennium Falcon in the background of a shot, and a 10 minute flashback done in anime - guest direction by Quentin Tarantino.

It could be longer than the movie itself. Maybe release it in two parts. Definitely going to be comparisons to it and Blade Runner 2049 and Infinity War, and why Solo bombed. Really Blade Runner 2049 is the movie that the more you think about the more you like it, while The Last Jedi is the movie the more you think about the more you hate it.

I mean when you really think about Luv in the movie, it’s actually implied she’s the deauteragonist trying to be the messiah for the replicants, but you just see her as a violent psychopath simply through K’s perspective. This something 99% of the audience isn’t going to get, but the movie still puts it in there. The Last Jedi in the meanwhile says the most evil place ever is Monaco and the Kentucky Derby all while the protagonists ignore child slaves.

I’m going to see it over the weekend. My son and one of my buddies have reported back that it is wildly entertaining.

I’ll put my SW fan creds against anyone on this board while saying that the neck beard hate here is hilarious.

I thought the movie was better than TLJ, though it did have its faults.

The black ginger kid and SJW robot were unintentionally hilarious.

Looper is fricking ridiculous. This board is the only place where Looper circle jerks take place.

No doubt, the crazy thing is, that Disney owns Marvel and Marvel has figured out how to crank out a couple of movies a year and keep them fun/engaging. The original SW trilogy set up an interesting universe rife with the opportunity for good stories, yet most, if not all, of what we see after that are pieces to things we already know about.

So much wasted potential.

The expectations are different though. People expect nothing but greatness with SW, even though most of the films since the OT have been mediocre. No one was being this critical during phase 1 of the MCU. Aside from the first IM, most of those films weren't BO monsters until TA came out.

Just pre-ordered tickets for tomorrow. When I was selecting where to sit in the theater, I noticed that every single seat was still available. Yikes.

Another angle that will make Scruffy giggle:

This is the most expensive Star Wars movie made to date even factoring in inflation.

It is estimated to have edged out TFA’s budget due to reshoots. Final costs: around 250 million.

From Deadline...

quote:

the plus side, Solo‘s projections have improved since this morning, and in exit polls, audiences don’t loathe it in a Batman v. Superman kind of way giving the Star Wars spinoff an 89% overall positive on ComScore/Screen Engine’s PostTrak and an A- CinemaScore. That’s the first A- for a Disney Star Wars title (which until now have all earned As), but right in line with the grades of Episodes I-III. While moviegoers are slow to arrive to Solo perhaps due to skepticism, hopefully those leaving the auditorium will preach the good word, and PostTrak shows a healthy 73% definite recommend.

Huh.

Why is a news organization invested in the commercial success of this movie?

I typically see this language regarding low budget movies which are good and creative but considered too risky to put anywhere but the dead areas of releases and the studio barely markets.

I don’t think anyone claims anything more than a generic popcorn flick out of this one.

This isn’t even a political collusion allegation. Just seems like the Disney strongarming is out in force.

7.1 on IMDB, and most of the reviews are bad, for long and verbose reasons, not just "it sucked."

Though it was 6.6 on Thursday, before the sheep and possible Disney bots arrived. They accuse others of making bots so much, they are almost certainly doing it themselves.
