treat your core audience with hostility and deride them as racists and sexists...all because they didn't like your awful movie (TLJ)

not really a surprising result.
It was pretty much a continuation of TLJ's performance once it got through christmas. It dropped like a rock and was making less than RO by week 5. The Box office thread on that one had people like RLDCS saying 700 was in the bag . I said 600 would be tough to get to... it finished at 620.

How does that compare to projections?

Most reasonable projections put it at $105-115 million.

That is BS. Initial projections were $130-150 million.

They then decreased that after the first couple days to $105-115 million.

Don’t downplay it.

$170 4 weeks ago

$125-150 1 week ago

ETA: Disney’s own projections had it at 130-150

Your “reasonable projections” didn’t exist when the movie was released.

As 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' Flops, Are Movies About White Men Box Office Poison?

I am hesitant to give the vocal minority who didn’t just dislike The Last Jedi (that’s allowed) but viewed it as SJW propaganda (that’s evil) too much credit. To the extent that it had any effect, you had some folks ignoring Solo either because they loved The Last Jedi or because they hated The Last Jedi.

A King Arthur movie starring Chiwetel Ejiofor or Diego Luna would be an event in a way that a Charlie Hunnam King Arthur movie was not. Ditto a Leia Organa movie versus a Han Solo movie. We’ll see if this affects the Boba Fett movie, which may be the first Star Wars movie with a minority leading man. Even that alleged Obi-Wan Kenobi movie will have an actor (Ewan McGregor) who fans would like to see reprise the role. Yes, a Glover-as-Lando flick could be a demographically-specific event movie in a way that Solo was not.

Of course they did. Anyone who understands trends and math knew instantly that $170 million was ridiculous.

One of you should explain Memorial Day weekend for everyone again. That was fun.

Rogue One made 155 its first weekend without a 4th day. It was thought that Solo would pass it with a 4th day plus being centered around a main character instead of a single event with all-new characters. Had TLJ not ruined so much in the eyes of many, 170 would have been realistic. That’s simply the truth.

In December. Against Moana in its 4th week and Office Christmas Party.

The people who thought this would do $170 million guessed, or worse.

I do think it's fantastic that all four of you who boycotted this because TLJ made you feel threatened think that you are what will bring Disney to their knees.
