True. But there definitely didn’t seem to be any loyalty on his part.

And even last night, Zarah goes to kill Josie. Then changes her mind and unhooks the IV and tells Layton she’ll still alive. It’s like everybody in this show does something and then changes their mind in the moment. Over and over. It’s strange.

All the characters are acting on emotion and rarely using reason.

Sure, if the train fails then humanity ends, but what about our feelings?

The Ruth thing annoys me,

Everything about that character annoys me. No different than when she was on The Americans. Still cant stand her,

Anybody else feel like the dimensions of the train are hilarious? I’m not sure how far up and back things are, but like Ruth gets the message and then marches uptrain to her “office,” which I assume is pretty far uptrain. But did she walk through 900+ cars? Because that’s how they made it seem

Yep, I had the same thought, I guess yelling "make way" enough times and you can transverse a mile+ in minutes without breaking a sweat

I still dont have a clue who the inside man is on SP working for Wilford cutting off digits. Its gotta be somebody we know but wouldnt expect.

-head of the janitors/black market guy
-Ruth
-Roche
-One of the engineers
-night club/brothel madame

?????? any other guesses

LJ

That's probably the best guess, since she's been shown to be a murderous psychopath several times before.

Random guess: It's Miles.

Episode 3 - A Great Odyssey

Stream of consciousness as I'm watching.....

-the cute blonde in W's Big Alice is going to be a player somehow

-Icy Bob is the mini-boss for this season

-Roche's wife is..... dead?? coma?? We've never met her

-whup...they mentioned Miles in Josie's room, maybe he hasnt vanished?

-Ben is the mole, and Layton already knows it

-Wilfred is sending Icy Bob after Mel. Alex will find out once she realizes there's only 1 snowmobile left

Couldn't watch last night, but plan to watch tonight.

And looks like this season discussion will just be you and me.

Finished last night.

Yeah I caught that too. Maybe they will bring him back at some point. Or maybe it's a Lost/Walt issue and he's gone.

Could be. I feel like with all the technology there have to be SOME people that knew Wilford was out there somewhere. Especially since they are on trains and all the tracks are (obviously) connected.

Interesting idea. I'm not sure if he would do that though, since he's likely assuming she is on a suicide mission anyway. But that would make sense with W's "he has to go colder for longer" comments. Although I think it may mean he's planning on using Bob to go after SP/Layton, and theyr strategy will involve letting in the cold somehow (similar to what Josie did in S1).

I feel like last night was sort of a filler episode. It all was so Mel could get off the train, and that's about the only thing of import that happened. I did think it was kinda funny though that when she jumped, the train seemed like it was going about 10 mph, instead of the 70+ it was going several minutes before. That was very poorly executed.

And I am very confused as to the track system and what they are doing. For some reason I was under the impression that there was one long track around the world. Obviously there are other pieces of track here and there, but nothing major. Yet they are talking about "circling back" and picking up Mel in one month.

Also, the "lead" car on Big Alice...that's the last car of the entire train now, correct? Its engine is in the rear, right? Or is that the front of the train and they "backed" into SP to connect to it?

I really like this show, which I assume means it will be cancelled in short order.

Big Alice's engine is in the rear. Note how when Alex is at the controls, that raised window area is at the front of the car and facing forward over the length of Big Alice. I have to deduce that that is the standard configuration. If the engine was at the front and Big Alice was going in reverse, they would not have that view but instead looking forward over open track like Snowpiercer.

Summer Glau isn't on it, so it has a shot at continuing.

I do think Wilford is sending Icy Bob after Mel, but not until they return. If you remember when Wilford was talking to the doctors he told them they had to go colder and they only had a month to "get him ready." It will be a month before they circle back to Mel and that's when Icy Bob will be set loose.

True, good call. They asked him if they had a month and he said to plan for half that, IIRC.

fricking great, thanks for putting that thought in my mind. If Layton starts crying and screaming "Miiiiiiilllleees my boy" I'm done. Thankfully there's no raft in this show

A sled is to snow as a raft is to water.

They have 3 sleds.

Well, Miles is alive. I thought they would've done a bit better job with his story filling that gap, but OK. Seemed like he could've been a more key player this year to interact with Alex as a fellow "engineer"

I guess LJ is going to try and stir that pot instead

Everybody is playing everybody, everyone is a mole. I still think Ben faked that weather balloon signal in tonights episode and is the head mole for Wilford. Now Zara is a hostess, and Josie is in Alice's burn unit. Spy vs Spy, yeah we get it.

As I mentioned last week, the blonde Aussie seamstress Ameilia is going to play a key part before this year is out. I doubt she lives, she's got tragic death written all over her. Or she's a Wilford plant to spy on Alex.

But mostly, I could not truly care any less about Audrey. Not only were all of her scenes with Wilford, and the musical number terribly cringeworthy - there is nothing appealing about her at all. They could kill her off and not a thing would matter. I dont care that she was an escort, I dont care that she was manipulated into slitting her wrists, I dont care that there's some sick deal between her and Dubs. I dont know if its the writing or the actress, but I'd just assume she hangs out wherever Miles is and off camera.

Weak filler episode, probably one of my least favorite so far. Tonite's entire episode couldve been accomplished inbetween 2 commercial breaks. Every TV series needs a few of these, hope it picks back up a bit next week.

Wait, Icy Bob is now a book reader with empathy???

ETA: damn them for playing that song. I’ve been walking around for an hour humming, “cause I got high, cause I got highhhh”

Snowpiercer is starting to lose steam. The show is really starting to drag, there's only so much inter-train subterfuge the audience can put up with

Each week I loathe Audrey just a little bit more. Her character is so offputting and nobody should wear that much clownpaint. I really hope she is killed off.

Safe to assume Wilford is intercepting Josie's messages before they cross the border?

I'm guessing for budgetary reasons, Jennifer Connelly is too expensive to appear in every episode.

I agree. That episode felt like 56 minutes of filler and then 4 minutes of a gotcha with the breachmen scene. Almost like they felt they had to rely on the surprise of the scene rather than telling a riveting story which they certainly can do with this premise.

Another thing was there was no need to taint Layton by writing him to give the order to kill. I get that they’re trying to show Layton is now experiencing what Mel experienced and had to make the tough call, but nothing in Layton’s previous actions showed he would succumb to the dark side like Mel did.

I think they wanted us all to know a taillie is always a taillie, cannibalism and whatnot. Even the evolved taillie Layton cant shake that primal tribalism they all adopted to survive all these years.

d then 4 minutes of a gotcha with the breachmen scene.

I forgot to add, I think the show wants us to think it was the taillies getting revenge on 3-fingers, but we never really saw their faces. So, it was W, via preacherman, who killed the Breachmen to incite a civil war on SP.

ergo, Preacherman and his fellow Pro-Dubs crew is doing all the attacks

I realized earlier that I missed last week’s episode (we lost power Monday). So I’m trying to catch up with last week and this week tonight (or by tomorrow at the latest).

I’ll jump back in once I’m caught up.
