Imagine if instead of Rocket, Gottfried, and Piscopo, Doumanian has cast rejects Carrey, Goodman, and Reubens.

You tell me that Weekend Update with James Carrey wouldn’t have won 97 Emmys. You tell me that, you son of a bitch.

I did expect more Piscopo jokes in this thread.

Alec Baldwin playing Donald Trump regularly = relatively speaking, must-see tv

You mean Alec Baldwin doing literally the easiest joke of the last 20 years is must0-see TV?

Trump, like him or hate him, is probably the easiest target ever cast into global light. No one comes close. Carvey's Bush and Ferrell's Bush are so much better.

There are limits to what I can believe.

That cast would have been excellent but Doumanian was absolutely incompetent at her job and she would have inadvertently taken them all out with her when she inevitably got fired.

There are a bunch of stories in the tell-all book about the show which kind of illustrate how tone-deaf she was to comedy, as her claim to fame before then was booking the musical guests.

I may make jokes about him but Frank wouldn’t do that.

Yes, unironically. An A-lister regularly playing the funniest President of all-time on SNL is unpresidented. Queersaysnah.

Perhaps the most versatile cast member ever.

If you have Dan Ackroyd and Phil Hartman, you have all the ensemble you need and can go get stars:
3. Belushi
4. Eddie
5. Billy Crystal
6. Will Ferrill
7. Poehler
8. Wiig
9. Hader

Host: Timberlake or Steve Martin

So the guys for me would have to be at least:

Hartman
Carvey
Lovitz
Ferrell
Hammond
Hader
Murphy

With those guys you can do anything in the world you want as far as a character actor or impressions.

For women:

Jan Hooks is the greatest sketch comedy female of all time. I implore you to google some of her sketches if you are not familiar.
after that
Cheri Oteri
Ana Geyster

featuring: Nora Dunn, Dennis Miller (update desk only), Jason Sedukis, Dan Akyord
