Alec Baldwin playing Donald Trump regularly = relatively speaking, must-see tv
So someone who's not even a regular cast member who portrays the same character is "must see"
Wow,talk about lowering the bar.
Baldwin has said he's done with the character BTW and ratings took a big dip in 1st half of '19.

FFS, this is like dealing with a child.
I posted MY dream cast. You post YOUR dream cast.
How about that?

Cause I called you out on the logic and criteria of your selections?

You questioned Gilda, my brother. I doubt I'm an outlier on that one.

We agreed on 4 (or 5). And I didn't call you out/cross-examine you for Sudeikis. Actually a talented guy, whom I like, but (obviously) didn't make my list. Over Belushi (for example)?
And you didn't list 2 women (that I saw).

Unfortunately the females weren't an integral part of the shows back then so she just didn't have the opportunities perhaps to carry her own sketches. Not that she wasn't talented and MUCH more of a presence than JLD. I mean you obviously don't think much of Fey or Pohler's talents and both excelled in careers after SNL.
Woulda been interesting to see what Gilda coulda have accomplished had she not passes.

As somebody mentioned earlier I think there's only room for either Farley or Belushi with their similar styles I prefer Farley. Can't go wrong with either.

Honerable mention for Kenan Thompson BTW.Very funny IMO.

Ok,don't get your disdain for all 3... perhaps a response to my opinion of Radner and JLD (never said either wasn't talented BTW)

Not the point .IF your opinion of a particular SNL season has nothing to do with any cast member and a guest star who does the exact same character then the bar had been successfully lowered.Pretty pathetic that a guest has to carry the show/cast.

Nope. Just don't like them, generally. I have dug some of Pohler and Wiig's work outside of SNL, but, frankly, the show has been terrible for so long I can't tell you the last time I was a regular watcher. At least 10 if not 15 years (or more).

I struggle to comprehend how anyone would leave Murphy and Norm (WU) off a fantasy list. They're the GOAT in those roles.
I'd go with
Murphy
Farley
Sandler
Ferrell
Fey
Shannon
Norm
Carvey
Hartman.
Oh and since it's a fantasy, I'm calling an audible and pulling Jim Carrey off of Living Color.

Not as good as Oteri, Shannon, Gasteyer. The Fey group did have much better post-SNL success, but on SNL - they were generally boring. And the Fey-Poehler Weekend Update was one of the worst parts. Just ugh all around. Add in Dratch as well, who could be awesome....or terrible......and it gets interesting.

Carrey auditioned twice for SNL and got turned down.
Worked out well for him because one of those times was the 1980 “death cast” where pretty much anyone not named Murphy or Piscopo got canned after Charles Rocket dropped an F bomb on life TV.
About the only person to succeed in spite of being in that cast was Gilbert Godfried.
Less sure on when his second audition was. Want to say it was either the 1984 “all star cast” with Crystal and Short or the 1985 cast with Robert Downey Jr and Randy Quaid in addition to Lovitz and Miller.

Wow I never knew that. But those years were probably before he was ready anyway. He definitely would've killed it with the other cast members in the 90s though.
And something to add about Fey, she should be on the roster for her writing alone. She wrote so much good shite for the show before she was even on screen.

I need to find a list of the other people who auditioned and didn’t make the cut.
I know Lisa Kudrow did in the early 90s, which would have kept her off Friends.
Robert Townsend was also set to be the original token black cast member in 1980 until one of the talent guys auditioned Eddie Murphy and fought Jean Doumanian to get him instead. Doumanian only gave in because Townsend had yet to sign his contract.

Well, Garrett Morris begs to differ.

I meant “of the new cast”.
And by that, I mean Doumanian originally turned down Eddie Murphy because “we already have a black guy.”
