It is staggering how much they fricked up this property. Even the prequels couldn’t frick up the OT, but they’ve done it now. I used to have the feeling of ecstasy watching the OT, but i rewatched Empire a few weeks ago and it’s now all gone. I still enjoy it, but all the epicness is now vanished. I can watch Lord of the Rings and still get that feeling, but not this.

Tolkien didn’t write it and Jackson has nothing to do with it, so I’ll be able to separate it. They’re going to frick up Avatar with wokeness as well, but so long as the writers of the animated universe keep it grounded in sanity going forward (granted they’re getting even bigger projects thrown at them than Matt and Trey from South Park), then I’ll be able to separate that as well.

Yeah, I just think Lord of the Rings is that good that it can’t be ruined. If Jackson was doing this series, then yes it could be (which is why I think Avatar is not immune from this), but The Lord of the Rings is basically perfect save for maybe leaving out the Scouring of the Shire, which I think they would have filmed if they knew how successful the Extended Editions would be. Just skip the scene where the Hobbits return to the Shire in the theatrical release and go straight to the Green Dragon where Sam approaches Rosie and you’re good.

At worst, Disney can be accused of laziness in “re-naming” Slave 1, but they didn’t just pull it out of their asses. The slave 1 is literally a Firespray-31-Class Patrol and Attack Prototype.

Answer this: Why did Disney change the name? Nobody cares about the new name or where it comes from. The reasons they used to change the name is why they don't like it.
