First time posting in this thread. This show is so well done. Best show on TV. Tonight’s episode left my jaw on the floor…I did not see that coming with Hiromatsu!!! Toranaga def has something up his sleeve. The fire/anger inside Kashigi is starting to burn!!!

what’s Mariko’s issue with her husband?
has he always been abusive? I felt like this was a relationship she was never into and he grew to resent her and became abusive.
I thought she always wanted to die to be with her father but she just wanted to get away from him?

If I remember a dialog correctly from 2 or 3 episodes ago she was given an arranged marriage and had to take a calculated lesser path. And he may have been abusive of course. Don't quote me though.

but then she has a ton of respect for her FIL who is a powerful general and her Husband is a respected Samurai seemingly in his Lords inner circle.
does she want to die because her whole family committed seppuku, does she want to die because she hates her husband?

I'm not reading this thread cause I'm waiting to watch the last 2 episodes back to back but I absolutely love this show.

Everyone feels bad for Buntaro, but he knows that he's lost Mariko (if he ever had her) and he's trying to retake possession of her in death. It's pretty selfish and he deserved the response he gets.
But in that state, he's the biggest wild card. Even if he's not already secretly against Toranaga, his father is dead now and that may be all that was holding his loyalty. I just feel like Buntaro is going to end up being a huge turd in the punchbowl.

Maybe, or he's first going to learn that his father killed himself bc he believed in crimson sky (big part of the plan).

I think Toranaga and his friend put on a very pointed show for everyone. But subtly, Toranaga was making a point to everyone.
Do you care about the clan or Japan? Believe in him like his friend says, and the realm with be in peace.
