You sound like you're intentionally trying to be an edge lord. Even if you don't care about Mark and Gemma's relationship there was plenty for the Lumon crowd in this episode. Their relationship was only marginally important in the episode when it came to learning more about what Lumon is trying to accomplish.

Rewatched, what an amazing fricking episode. Honestly, may be a top 10 all time for me.
100% in on the Mark is removing her bad memories from each room plot hypothesis, but a hole in that would be, they claim Mark is working on Cold Harbor and he is close to completing, but she's never been in that room.

I hate to break it to you, but that is the main plot line of the show. The workings of Lumon is just facilitating their story.
Then the rest of this season has been filler
It’s Lost moment where people start saying the show isn’t about the mystery and actually about the characters

If Lumon is such a culty corporation, that has it roots in what, the late 19th century? What the frick was going on the first 150+ years before this severance tech was even created?
Reminds me of Blue Sun from Firefly. A massive company with a very public image but also mysteriously situated in an array of different products.
The whole Gemma angle and focusing on Cold Harbor .. does seem rather LOST like. Just hope it doesn't end with a journey down they endless mystery box rabbit hole.

In that theory, I think Gemma’s ultimate goal is forgetting about her miscarriage and pregnancy issues. Mark is helping create the environment in cold harbor to recreate and remove her most hated memory.

Hmm maybe so, marks motivation to becoming severed was to overcome him losing his wife in tragic fashion.
Its reasonable to assume that she did the same thing to overcome the loss of her child through miscarriage though it seems extreme to leave mark for a while without letting him know what she was doing.
Also, I think the last interaction between mark and gemma showed that gemma knew she wasn’t going to see him for awhile. The i love you back and forth gave me that impression.

I think Mark has to complete cold harbor before she can enter the room.
Once completed, as is well. Re-united. Then jealous doctor will tell Gemma about Mark tapping Helly R.
Season cliffhanger will be closing camera panning a door with “Red Bush” on it.

Did anyone notice that Gemma experienced Woe/dread upon seeing the outfit she was wearing, indicating she wears the same outfit to the same rooms.
So she is not completely clear of Allentown.

It felt more like I was watching a damned romance themed show instead of sci fi. A drastic departure from season 1.
What show are you watching? It’s been a love story the entire time. Yes it’s science fiction but that’s just the genre and the setting.
I was a bit apathetic towards Ms Casey and Mark outside romance but that episode created an actual real connection to those characters and their story.
Amazing writing and directing and acting.

Experimenting with ether and writing the religion.
Dieter isn’t a twin. Dieter is Kier’s innie. Dieter got high on either and jerked off. Kier was disgusted and wanted to purge himself of that part of himself.

Remind me, how does she "clear" a room?
I'm rewatching now, watched it before but I had too much to drink.
What's Devon's role?

Minute 21:20 where the Ricken looking dude (deep voice) that says are the severance barriers holding? Then shows fast forward of the numbers on. the screen. What is that?

When Milkshake sends Mrs Casey back, the elevator with teh arrow down, is that was Irv was seeing in his paintings? Like leading down to that floor to what they do to her?

Under the theory of Mark removing bad memories, its when Mark gets to 100% refinement for that room.

It looks like they are working on blocking trauma

But it’s clear she associates certain outfits with certain rooms.
While she may not know what’s happening in the room, she knows the way it makes her feel. She comes out with her teeth hurting.
Maybe she has no idea what the reason is but she brings the “scars” with her.
Therefore, I posit that it is impossible to be fully severed. While you may not experience the “pain” in real time it remains with you even after you flip the switch back on (atleast in regards to physical pain).
This show is great because it creates discussion.
