She has such a unique facial structure that for whatever reason I would assume is very attractive to most men.
It some scenes she looks astonishingly beautiful.
It some scenes she looks like an alien.
Its probably the different hairstyles.

What a fricking episode....
Going to be interesting as to why Gemma voluntarily went into the Lumon project and got severed. I'm guessing it has something to do with the her inability to carry a baby to term or even conceive

I'm in the minority. This episode sucked.

quote:Have to think Lumon engineered the miscarriage(s) and failed attempts, given the doc's presence in the medical office they visited. I wonder if the doc survived after FAFO. What an nightmarishly creepy role.
Wonder if Lumon was preventing her getting pregnant with those shots.
I don't think the plan has been for Gemma to die, even though Drummond said the doc wouldn't see her again after Cold Harbor. Sounded like the doc was laying the groundwork for her to stay with him.
Goodness gracious, so much to say about episode, down to:
- realizing that Gemma is there by choice (even if Lumon coerced her) and that she wants to reunite with Mark
- each Gemma innie's total existence being limited to a world of pain, discomfort, and some type of relationship with the doctor
- the weirdness of the testing floor room where the innies' every move is watched
- the visual juxtapositions of Mark and Gemma as they grew apart
- Mark's stunned countenance when he realized the police were outside his door
- Milchick intercepting Casey in the hallway and turning her around
- the realization on Gemma's face when she finds herself back on the testing floor
- the trauma of Gemma's miscarriage
- the normalcy of Mark/Gemma/Devon/Ricken eating lunch
- the dawning realization that all of Kier is Lumon and wondering how Mark and Gemma wound up there in the first place
I could go on ... I'm stilled stunned.

Another little test, in the Christmas room the creepy doctor says I love you and Gemma doesn’t say anything so he has to nudge her. That was also the same interaction that Gemma and Mark ever had together.
They’re always doing little tests to see if the severance technology works. It seems like it works as intended so I’m wondering what they’re still worried about.

What if that doctor is actually Mark, as in Marks consciousness that's been transferred to another person, which is why he tells her he loves her and why he'll be sad to lose her?

Not quite. Yes, both are related I guess, but Mark not saying "I love you too" was only because he was distracted while working. Gemma seems to hate the Lumon doctor and didn't want to say it back.

I had another thought about the work they’re doing, it looked like in the actual “real world” the workers were taking scary memories and putting them in the boxes. When they trained Helena they said to look for scary numbers.
Maybe the scary numbers are actually scary memories that are being deleted?

Yeah I guess they’re related because they say the exact same words.

Mark’s crystal head was for Allentown.

Possibly. But if that's true, what is Mark doing? Eliminating Gemma's scary memories? If so, why wouldn't they just have Gemma do it herself like the others?

Severed Gemma is Ms. Casey and she’s the counselor when she’s on the severed floor. She’s not in macrodata refinement.

My answer is death or a near death experience such as wrecking a car and landing into a ‘cold harbor.’
I've been thinking about this and think you're right.
But what if what they're working on is immortality. All of Gemma's consciousness is being uploaded to her chip without the trauma. They are trying to create a version of heaven, a world without any pain where everyone lives forever.
Maybe they plan on killing her then removing her chip and implanting it into someone else.
