I've never understood the love for Scarface. I guess it is just way too 80s for me.

I love everything about the 80s...except Scarface.

It's like they threw a lot of violence and language into a tv movie script and hoped that nobody would notice.

I was honestly expecting " it's an awesome movie! " after I clicked.

Expectations subverted.

Everything about Scarface is over the top and yes it is very campy at times but I think that is part of the point. The rise, the excess, the unbridled ambition, the absence of discipline, the indulgence of the worst of humanity, the megalomania.

It’s not a movie that I particularly care for but I can see why some people like it and I would say that it is entertaining.

I wouldn’t say not good.

But Scarface is not this great film people made it sound like. It’s just okay with many memorable moments.

No way it’s no Godfather but it definitely a top 10 gangster flick. It kind of comes off a little low budget but it works for this movie.

Scarface was about the point Pacino started confusing more acting with good acting.

Scarface is their hero. I wonder if they've seen the end of the movie, because it ends really, really badly. Spoiler alert: Scarface dies snorting a comical pile of cocaine in a tacky-arse mansion that looks like if the Golden Girls won the lottery. 'Cause they won the Powerball lottery. Also I don't like people lumping in Scarface with better movies. I have friends that'll be like "Yeah, I love movies that are like The Godfather and Scarface."
"Oh yeah? Well my favorite foods are lobster and skittles. Those are equal in my eyes."

Supposedly, the chainsaw scene is loosely based on Roy Demeo and Nino Gaggi halfway dismembering a guy in a Miami hotel room before they heard nearby commotion and left (but it wasn't with a chainsaw).

The story does move fast but its a great movie imo, probably overblown in pop culture. The original Scarface was better imo, albeit very dated now. But the visual experience of the Palma Scarface is very aesthetically pleasing.

I never see it mentioned as some great cinematic masterpiece.

It's a violent and fun gangster movie with one of the most quotable, loveable, hateable, and iconic characters ever.

It’s one of the most overhyped, overacted, overblown movies ever made. And it remains culturally relevant today largely thanks to gangster rap and a cohort of white suburban boys who listened to and took their cues from rap artists who thought that being a gangster was cool and Scarface was sort of the height of what being a gangster could be. Probably among Pacino’s worst performances. The pacing of that movie is godawful, the plot is bad and the characters are not well drawn. It’s a shamble of a movie.
