Wife and I just saw it. Good movie, but wasn't as crazy about it as some of you. Gosling and Stone were convincing in their roles. Ending was clever. Overall worth the trip to the theater, but nothing spectacular. Just my opinion.

It reminded me of Birdman, in that even if it's not your thing, it's a must see if you dig artful and unique cinema.
The opening freeway scene is unforgettable.

Just saw it tonight and it was absolutely excellent and worthy of being the best picture of the year.

How can a straight guy go and watch this movie? I wouldn't watch it if they paid me. My wife is hyped up to see it tho

You have to be a really insecure hetero to think you might turn gay just from watching a musical.

Not only did I go watch it, I went to watch it by myself. And it was fabulous.

Because a straight guy will take his wife or SO with him and leave with her in a good mood on how awesome the movie was, win win

You're so cool
Serious answer... because they want to see a good movie and don't give a frick if some 14 year old thinks they're gay for seeing it

Have you ever been to Broadway?
If you can't appreciate the immense talent some these writers, directors, and performers possess, then I pity you.

Take your wife to see it. If she has to put up with your trucknutz personality, she deserves it.
Treat yourself to a rewatch of The Blues Brothers before going. It'll remind you that dudes can appreciate musicals. Watching it will remind you that you don't have to take musicals literally, as if they are true stories where people actually break out into song and choreographed dances. The song and dance scenes can be a representation of how people are feeling.
While sitting with her, lighten the frick up. Have a beer and notice the artistry of what is accomplished in continuous shots. Notice Emma Stone's acting. Have some awareness of classic musicals and why they appeal to so many people, regardless of gender or sexual preference. Also notice the stories being told and the unique method of telling them.

Great movie
I thought it was a good movie, but the ending put it into the "great" category for me. Chazelle has done a great job delivering powerful and impactful endings. Loved the music and I was impressed with Gosling's piano skills. I heard it was all him.
I love the way this director tells (and especially finishes) stories and I look forward to his next one.

Saw it today
What an impressive movie. It's incredible that Chazelle is just 31 years old and has made 2 of the best movies of the last few years to start his career
I'm not a fan of musicals by any means, and the first 15 minutes of this movie had me worrying that it would be way too much song and dance, but damn it just turned in to a very good movie. I'll have zero issue when this wins Best Pitcure at the Oscars and will just laugh at all the jackasses who won't see it and complain that Hollywood is just giving another movie about hollywood an award

I think this is the most beta thing I have ever read. How can a man write this kind of summary? It should have been written by a woman. God I want to pants you and slap you on the back of the head so bad right now.

You seem like a fun person.
If you can't be emotionally affected by a great film, well, I feel sorry for you.
