I haven’t invented anything . Hollywood has intentionally set out to subvert and swap certain roles targeting certain groups. This has been codified into the Academy, so it’s funny that you pretend it’s something that I made up or invented.

Following this criteria, a movie about how great straight, white, men are with a cast consisting of nothing but straight , white, men and directed by a straight, white, man from a studio run by a straight, white, man would be eligible to win Best Picture.
Sorry that the on-set caterer and the intern that empties the trash cans being other than straight, white, or male is ruining your viewing experience.

We also have a woeful lack of these sorts of comic movies.
DC has the better slate with the whole Neil Gaiman world, Justice League Dark, etc, but Marvel has good characters for this sort of thing too like Blade, Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, Midnight Sons, etc.

Neil Gaiman's Sandman was pretty good; JL: Dark has done great with their animated movies but I am not sure if they'll make a live action or not (DCU needs to get at least get some traction before they try it).
Midnight Sons would be great; I'm still waiting to see if they bring back Moon Knight or not. His show was pretty good, one of the better Disney+ shows honestly.

1. Sony really wanted to capitalize on a Marvel character it owned among the broader boom in superhero movies, lest the rights revert back to Marvel.
2. A legitimate movie star (at the time) pushed to make them happen.
Ghost Rider is one of those characters who exists as a very cool idea, but with whom Marvel has never really known what to do. Like with Blade, there are very few successful comic book runs in Ghost Rider's 60 year history. And those 2 movies are considered by most to be among the lowest tier of superhero adaptations. I personally enjoy Spirit of Vengeance. Nailing a quality, cinematic idea for this reboot is not a given, especially with Captain Nostalgia Trash at the helm.

Yeah this is where James Gunn's choice of movies is not helping. Supergirl is perhaps the least interesting character he could have chosen for movie 2. Barely C-tier.

I honestly didn't understand that selection; I don't mind the character but you already did Superman. If you want a female led movie, go with Wonder Woman; if you're avoiding Wonder Woman because she had the most recent movie then go with one of these:
Power Girl (the ACTUAL edgy Supergirl)
Batgirl
Zatanna (which would be a good lead in to JL:Dark)
Hawkgirl (technically already cast from the Superman movie)
Black Canary
Raven or Starfire (for a Teen Titans lead in)
If you're worried about name recognition then Batgirl is the obvious choice; that said, if you're aiming for most interesting I'd say Zatanna, Raven, and Black Canary in that order (though Raven's backstory is the most interesting and comes with a built-in antagonist).
