The idea that disney would give anyone complete control over any major project is insanity

Rian Johnson was given unprecedented creative freedom by Lucasfilm to write and direct Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Unlike other directors in the sequel trilogy who faced studio interference or firings, Johnson had complete autonomy to subvert established storylines, shape character arcs, and ignore the overarching narrative direction
Insane indeed.

It’s always funny to watch these silly accusations as if one day all the Star Wats fans just decided to hate Star Wars for no reason. The prequels aren’t great, some would say they’re not good at all but they have a large and loyal fanbase. TFA made 2.1 billion dollars despite unceremoniously killing Han and OMG having a girl lead!!! TFA was also under KKs leadership so no, people didn’t just decide to hate her for whatever reason you’ve got in your head, though of course nobody ever gives one. It’s a tale as old as time across any industry/market that’s ever existed. Quality goes down and popularity/sales/etc go down accordingly. There isn’t any nefarious or coordinated plan to take down whoever is in charge at Lucasfilm.

Filoni is mad that he can’t stuff his original characters into this movie.
This has always been the thing that’s gotten me about him. So Star Wars is just supposed to be about these characters I couldn’t care less about?

I need to know a little more, like why he was opposed.
If it is indeed frustration that it doesn't focus on his characters, then i can understand the screw that guy mentality. However, if it was opposition to continuing a propping up of a future Rey focused Star Wars, which there have been hints that Starfighter might do, then I can't be mad at the dude. If he has heard the vocal and consistent complaints from fans about the lack of interest/downright hatred of the direction that the sequel trilogies took and thought maybe that was a bad thing to continue pushing towards, then I'd say he at least sees the writing on the wall. I never saw Ahsoka, but things I have heard and other issues people have voiced against Filoni lead me to believe that the direction he wants might suck too, so I guess the franchise is screwed for the forseeable future either way.

Damnit I clicked on this hoping it would have something to do with The Last Starfighter.

Sure.
The hatred of Star Wars is now its own lucrative cottage industry. There isn't a coordinated effort to take down Filoni, but there is a need for idiots who profit off of Proximo's hatred to create content that both validates his hatred and keeps that hatred fresh. How else will those idiots stay relevant and paid?

You skipped the first half of the post because it disproves your retardation so I’ll ask again. Did Star Wars fans wake up one day and just decide to hate Star Wars and whoever is running Lucasfilm? If so provide proof.

that guy is right about 10% of the time with his "rumors"

Still angry you got wrecked on that whole Helen thing huh?
This post wasn’t made out of hatred, clown. I’m just curious as to the reason Filoni was overruled on Starfighter when he’s the CCO.

CONSOOMERS don’t like when people ask questions.

Well it’s projection and he’s always dishonest. His defense bypasses the actual decline and can’t be reconciled with the chronology of these channels he’s blaming everything on becoming popular. In simple terms the problem proceeded his blame for the problem. On top of that he’s just accusing others of what he does which is parrot talking points and being totally influenced by social media. He doesn’t watch those channels, he doesn’t know what they talk about and he can’t reconcile why they all positively viewed Andor which is not only a Disney product but has all the political commentary from its creator and actors he claims these people base their hate on. He has no argument, it’s fabrication and dishonesty.

Nevermind that the video in question was made by someone who very much does the opposite of what Jay Are is claiming

My guess would be that Filoni was against it because it’s stupid to throw out a movie that takes place in a different timeframe than what is currently being pushed. It’s confusing to the audience and it waters down both stories.
So… watch our shows and movie about the remnants of the empire.
But also, watch our movies that take place 50 years later and pretty much kill the suspense of what might happen with that other stuff.
I don’t know who’s in charge, but it really feels like either no one is or like 20 different people are. Which is worse?

That’s literally any property sold to a studio.
Amazon could decide that Robocop was canonically a talking rabbit. That wouldn’t make the first movie suddenly irrelevant or bad.
Doctor who has been changing the doctor's storyline for decades now.

Apparently the #1 rule of Star Wars fandom is to hate the person running Lucasfilm and to blame them for ruining their childhood.
You masturbate to Rian Johnson don't you?

I don't understand why Disney is struggling with Star Wars. You can't hold on to the original trilogy - those actors are too old/dead and replacing them is stupid. Also, not nearly enough people care about Ashoka or Rebels or any of Filoni's animated crap to make it worthwhile expanding that to the big screen. And finally, please God leave the prequel trilogy alone - Hayden Christensen is not a box office draw and those movies mostly suck.
It's simple. Lucas created a cool universe. Skip a couple centuries into the future, Jedi and Sith are back to being disbelieved legends. Start over with ZERO legacy characters, but feel free to follow the prequel-type story of a secret Sith coming to power and a group of rebels that slowly rise to oppose him. Lean into the criminals and rogues this time. Basically, mesh Andor and Phantom Menace, minus all the jedi. Later on you can have some new version of jedi arise after a movie or two (like the original trilogy), maybe even sneak in a force ghost for fan service. Thats it. Profit.
