Don’t just write it off since it’s in video format. Campea outright says he was told a couple weeks ago about this but couldn’t verify it, so he didn’t run it. A high ranking studio exec repeated the same thing to him independently recently so he made this video about it. Anyway, makes for interesting discussion

Essentially, rumor is that Filoni didn’t want to make Starfighter and was overruled, likely when Kathleen was still head of lucasfilm but he was CCO.

To me this begs the question, did he not want it because it ties into the Rey trilogy? Because that would be a valid reason

He didn’t want Andor either.
I think he’s just an up-jumped kid show show runner and can’t do broader content.

I just don’t understand how making a non canonical cartoon endeared this guy to so many fans. It’s bizarre to me and I think it’s also overblown. He’s not as popular as advertised and he def hasn’t made anything worth shite in his entire career.

Clone Wars is canonical.

It’s not. To be clear Disney designates what canon is so officially it is but it’s also possible for the owners of a property to break their own cannon. Happens all the time so just to be clear on that line of argument.

Wait a minute, you mean the Pakistani documentary director who has zero background in anything sci-fi but is more interested in making men feel uncomfortable WON'T be getting her movie after all?

To be clear, it’s referenced in the Disney show Ahsoka.

Or are you confusing it with the 2003 animated series which isn’t?

Disney owns Star Wars so officially whatever they say is canon is canon. You are correct, I’m not saying you aren’t but it’s also possible for the owners of a property to break their own canon which we see happen all the time.

That’s literally any property sold to a studio.

Amazon could decide that Robocop was canonically a talking rabbit. That wouldn’t make the first movie suddenly irrelevant or bad.

I think people underestimate the corporate nonsense people like Filoni are forced to engage with in order to have control over any content.

The idea that disney would give anyone complete control over any major project is insanity.

I dont blame Filoni or Favreau at all, disney simply refuses to allow them to freely make star wars in their vision, not blackrocks.

Filoni is mad that he can’t stuff his original characters into this movie.

Apparently the #1 rule of Star Wars fandom is to hate the person running Lucasfilm and to blame them for ruining their childhood.

Typical.

Kathleen ran Star Wars into the ground and wrecked the IP, are you disputing that?

She then installed Dave “I speak about women’s empowerment at conferences” Filoni and doesn’t seem to be going well for him so far
