Honestly if the Alt-Right wanted to create a movie that shows the dangers of women and minorities in power, you couldn't make a better movie than TLJ to illustrate that.

Must be The Last Jedi because the Rebellion escaped the Empire in the first 30 minutes of ESB and ended it assembled at an unknown rendezvous point preparing for an unspecified counterattack.

I don't know about you, but i'm really excited to see the first product placement in franchise history when Rey gasses up the Falcon at an intergalactic 7/11 while crushing a slushee.

I lol'd. But 7/11 doesn't sell slushees. They sell slurpies.

Are Luke, Leia, Chewbacca, Lando, C3PO, and R2 D2 not rebels? I need to rewatch The Empire Strikes Back.

The rebellion isn’t in the empire strikes back after the escape from Hoth

Han, Leia, Chewie and 3po are running from Vader who wants them for personal reasons unrelated to the larger conflicts and it ends with them having safely escaped and regrouped with the rebellion but only after losing han to the bounty hunter (a personal debt)

See empire just has the rebel base blown to shite to get characters where they’re going. The stakes are personal and the entire conflict is a tabled. The last Jedi could’ve had a totally personal movie but it chose to make the conflict the main plot while pretending something happened when nothing did

Han falls in love with leia and she reciprocated right as he’s taken from her. He may be gone, forever. It’s emotional. Han also demonstrates character progression from his role in the original when he would never risk himself for others only money.

Luke learns a lot about the force (and by extension so do we) as he begins the movie a scrub and ends it being capable of hanging with Vader. We also learn he’s far more important to the larger struggle than we realized, and learns the stakes are not quite what he thought with the greatest spoiler in movie history

Yeah they’re both chase movies. One is exciting and the other plays out like OJ running from the cops in his bronco
