Another great and underrated role of Robert Duvall's was from the film Network. If you guys haven't seen it, it's a fantastic film that has so much relevance in 2026.

I hope TCM gives him at least a week long retrospective.

Network

Robert Duvall, Faye Dunaway, and William Holden.

That scene features some heavy star power at their best. I’m a huge fan of all three. Those three each won an Oscar, a combined for 13 nominations in their respective careers.

Prime has been pushing Open Range lately so I watched it again over the weekend.

Always good.

Don't forget Ned Beatty. Not on their level, but a great part of that one.

Gus McCrae is the best cowboy role of all time.

Duvall himself compared it to Shakespeare.

ETA: That’s not the right video. But he said it. I promise.

I JUST watched Open Range last night. Low key probably my favorite movie he was in.

This sucks, but he had a long, great life and had one hell of a career. Even some of the recent movies he was in like The Judge and Hustle with Adam Sandler he was good.

He is at least a top 5 actor of all time IMO. Him and Gene Hackman basically within a year span. RIP legend.
