Was that Conner Macgregor? And was he bigger than he's ever been?

Thought the same thing.

That looks like it has some woke aspects to it, but they shouldn't be distracting. It also looks terrible, cheesy, cringey, and dumb.

I really hpoe they manage to work in all the great one-liners. I saw a couple in the trailer, but need the rest of them too.

He's probably referring to the black woman owning the Roadhouse. That's Jessica Williams, good actress, she's right there in the quirky/funny, attractive black chick wheelhouse.

And Conor McGregor has probably done at least two cycles of roids while rehabbing his broken ankle.

The director is pretty pissed about it

He should be...this is just the type of movie that would get butts in seats and be fun to watch with a group.

LINK

quote:

Liman, the director of the upcoming remake of Road House starring Jake Gyllenhaal, will be boycotting the film’s SXSW premiere over issues with Amazon MGM’s release strategy. In an op-ed for Deadline, the prolific filmmaker criticizes Amazon for pushing Road House to streaming and accuses the company of setting a dangerous precedent for theatrical releases and failing to live up to agreements.

quote:

“Contrary to their public statements, Amazon has no interest in supporting cinemas,” Liman writes. “Amazon will exclusively stream Road House on Amazon Prime. Amazon asked me and the film community to trust them and their public statements about supporting cinemas, and then they turned around and are using Road House to sell plumbing fixtures.”

quote:

The reality is there may not be a human villain in this story – it may simply be an Amazon computer algorithm. Amazon will sell more toasters if it has more subscribers; it will have more subscribers if it doesn’t have to compete with movie theaters. A computer could come up with that elegant solution as easily as it could solve global warming by killing all humans.

But a computer doesn’t know what it is like to share the experience of laughing and cheering and crying with a packed audience in a dark theater – and if Amazon has its way, future audiences won’t know either.

Outside of potentially lacking some gratuitous female nudity this looks like a fun arse movie. Was thinking during the trailer how fun it would be in theaters. Will absolutely watch.

There's a black person in it. And it's a girl that talks.

My favorite 2-liner:

"What if he calls my mama a whore?"

"Is she?"

But she owns a bar so she’ll at least be making sammiches.

I just rolled my eyes at the black chick owning a rough bar full of baws. They can't help themselves.

The owner being a black female. Black lady police officer. Stuff like that. And none of those things on their own represent "woke" necessarily, but really it was the staff that stood out to me as a particularly woke crowd and not the type I'd expect at some hardcore, violent dive bar in southern Florida (outside of the one dude that gets into the knife fight).

I don't normally try to notice shite like that, but it stood out to me for whatever reason. And I'll still watch it just fine. But it was just noticeable.

And I'm not even complaining about it, just commenting that it stood out to me a little.

This has nothing to do with it, at least not for me. I don't care if there is "a black chick in it who talks." But if there are lots of them in what would normally be a different race or sex, it stands out. I'm not even sure why pointing that out is a bad thing. I'll still watch the shite out of this movie. But at the same time it gave off small scents of woke vibes in the trailer, that's all.
