I was pretty dubious about the idea of a Road House remake, but this looks like a decent action movie. It looks like they're really just taking the name and basic plot and not having Jake Gyllenhaal play the best bouncer in America.
It does seem pretty dumb not to release this in theaters. You're telling me the folks who go see Fast and Furious movies wouldn't see this? Or they couldn't promote this with the UFC?

I actually don't think this would make a ton of money in theaters. I'm just glad they went this route and not the original route they planned with Rhonda fricking Rousey. That movie would've been arse.

It seems like that would appeal to the same audience as Fast and the Furious, Bad Boys. I hope they don't go the PG-13 route with it - make a damn R rated movie. I want lots of violence, cursing, nudity.
Agreed on the Rhonda Rousey thing. She's kind of unlikeable and ain't much of an actress. You gotta cast someone with a little charisma for this.

Setting it in the Florida Keys is kind of stupid. Despite what Hollywood thinks, the Keys are mostly gay white men living off a trust fund and flakey retired people who never fit in on the mainland. The "Florida Man" stereotype is hard to find down there. It's one of the weirdest crowds in the country.
