Makes me sad.
Don’t think he ever got enough credit for playing Cardinal Wolsey in The Tudors. IMO was just as good as some of his other marquee performances.

RIP sir.
Other than the obvious great roles already mentioned, I’ll add that he played a right good bastard in Peaky Blinders.

One of the most iconic roles of all time

This is indeed sad news....

Was on vacation with family last week and my brother had never watched Peaky Blinders so I started a re-watch with him. He was surprised to see Sam Neill onscreen. We were both commenting on how good he is in that role. Tremendous talent. RIP.

Damn. Jurassic Park has always been one of my favorite movies.
Wanna feel old? Most of us who saw JP in theaters as kids are in our 40’s now. Sam Neill was 45 when the original JP was released

RIP.
My dad very reluctantly agreed to take me to see Omen III: The Final Conflict at the theater when I was 10 years old. Talk about some awkward moments during the watch.

You don’t get too much more iconic than Dr. Alan Grant.

One of my favorite all-time movies, Jurassic Park. And apparently his last movie will be Godzilla x Kong Supernova. 2027
Be a piece.

Alan Grant is right up there with Atticus Finch as usual me of the great male movie characters that we all can admire. Strong, intelligent, kind but firm, funny without being a clown. We don't see these characters anymore.

I strongly recommend Event Horizon
Yes I had forgotten he was in that, probably the only other one of his films I've seen, another good performance.

I’m sad but also find it hilarious people are saying Jurassic park is “one of my favorite movies of all time”
no crap. It’s one of everyone’s favorite movies of all time.

This scene used to freak me out as a kid when he was preaching to his followers.

idk why but one scene in JP that hit a chord with me as a child was when Dr. Grant only has two female ends for a seatbelt on the helicopter, and instead of going without a seatbelt, he ties the two pieces together. Kind of a throwaway scene, but I always thought him doing that was so smooth.

Not a throwaway scene at all. That is 100% on purpose. Life finds a way. All the dinosaurs on the island are female yet life finds a way.
