Rian Johnson stole the ending of TLJ

Escape from L.A.
He's a damn plagiarist.
Makes me hate Ruin Johnson more, if that is even possible.

I misread this as NY and now I keep picturing Kylo Ren screaming "You're the Duke! You're A number one!"

It’s bad enough the ending sucked - but to steal a sucky ending is like wiping your friend’s butt with sandpaper. It’s a stupid decision you went out of your way to choose leaving him with the red arse.

The only problem with this (or maybe not) is that Escape from L.A. was a much better movie.

I’m starting to feel that we have gotten to the point that almost everything has some film analogue that can be fit in with some editing.
It’s a frick up of a film, but to assume it’s “stolen” because of this is a damned reach IMO

Stolen, may be a harsh word, but if that was a homework assignment I would be a bit nervous about handing that one to the teacher.
I would love to hear Johnson's take on it. He will either go the cop out route and say he uses older films as inspiration, or he will just stick to calling us misogynistic racist since that seems to be working.

Nah I wouldn't call that stealing. Slight coinvidence.
But watching that TLJ seen just pissed me off again. In the theaters when the AT-ATs were all firing I was thinking damn Luke is a friggin badass now.
But nope, just a hologram.

So was A New Hope
And Abrahms plagerized the entire script for Force Awakens. He literally took A New Hope, rearranged some paragraphs, and turned it in as his own work.

And what resulted was Citizen Kane, compared to The Last Jedi

He wasn’t trying to hide that it was a retread of ANH. It was intended to be a safe movie to remind everyone the feeling of a Star Wars, and to introduce new and interesting characters. That’s it.
ETA. Also realize that Lawrence Kasdan was involved in writing TFA.

TFA was a soft reboot. Abrams never pretended that it wasn't. His job was to get the franchise moving in the right direction. Unfortunately he was not the producer going forward (executive producer is just a formality), and Kathleen Kennedy has no idea what the frick she is doing. If he had a say so, he would have thrown Johnson's script in the shredder and immediately fired him as soon as Luke tossed the lightsaber over his shoulder.

TFA was a soft reboot.
"They meant to do that" may be true, but it's only because they have no real creativity.

Indeed TFA was a horrible start to the trilogy. More space nazis were a forced attempt to be a microcosm of current day society. What do space nazis do...they build death stars apparently.
The Disneyfied Lucasfilm team had one concrete plan for this franchise reboot...to make a social statement and influence young people. They wanted people 30 years from now to talk about how this new franchise reboot was an amazing parallel to society that possessed immense underlining depth. No doubt they wanted the movies to be great as well.
They discounted the fact that they would be really restricting their story by mandating sjw themes. They also were blindsided by the backlash against sociel statements in entertainment. People wanted escape from the nonstop bombardment of political and social messages we get every day in real life.
People love Rey...they dont love that Rey is an intentional Mary Sue meant to portray an infallible strong feminist woman.
People love Poe...because people love a fearless and skilled hero taking on evil..not an overemotional buffoon meant to portay “toxic masculinity” and its faults.
Finn could have been great...but you made him a minority token instead of a real character with depth.
Give us these characters with original villians...not more space nazis with the goal of...what exactly?

Doesn't make it any better. Like saying Johnson purposely made a shitty movie.
