Agreed. The cast of Med School was fantastic. I would love yo see them complete the break to a full blown spinof in the following season with just Dr. Cox and maybe the Janitor as the only remaining recurring characters from before season 8. All of the others could just be cameos when needed.

I really feel like it could have made it on its own once JD, Elliot, Karla, and Turk were out of the picture.

med school is season 9 and receives a lot of undeserved hate. it was a good show and really started finding it's groove around mid season. I really wish it would've gotten a fair shake. the cast was good

Agree with that. S9 of Scrubs was solid. It wasn't anywhere near OG Scrubs, but it wasn't really supposed to be. And they faded JD and Turk out decently well IIRC and made room for the new intern characters (Eliza Coupe ).

Have you ever been to a med school party or met a group of surgical interns?

Gives me wowzers in my trousers

I think the biggest problem people have with Med School is they incorrectly view it as another season of Scrubs, which was already a finished product that had an established voice, tone, etc. when they should view it as a spinoff and a new show on it's own trying to get its legs under it. When viewed fairly, Med School was on it's way to being a solid show and had become pretty good by the end of the season. It had some real potential.

I also remember thinking they ruined Jo compared to what she was in season 8, but I can't remember why I thought that.

No, I'm not talking about that. JD and Turk's characters were WAY overblown and stupid in S9.

I'm talking about fading the characters out pretty quickly so that the new characters could have their chance to shine (weren't JD/Turk in like less than half of the episodes?).

1. Why was janitor, as awesome as he is, never written up for insubordination for how he treats J.D.?

Probably because Ted was so inept as a lawyer that Kelso didn't want anything thing to do with Ted having to defend the hospital in any kind of workplace lawsuit.

Plus JD was too big of a pussy to actually turn the Janitor in for torturing him for 9 years.

I remember this show use to come on comedy central way back when but i avoided it because of all the narrations. That was a long time ago and im older now and your tastes change so im going to give it a go. Maybe watching it in order will help.

I just started ep 1 and realized that Dr. Elliot is the Dr. gf of Ted from HIMYM.

JD and Turk were turrible in the last season. The security guys were also horrible.

The biggest sin was actually making Turk gay. Not just effeminate. They made him gay when he told Elliot it was unfair she got to see JD naked. I don't even understand how Donald was willing to even say that line.

Once they fully phased out JD, the show got better. By the time I get to the end of the final season which was cut short, I actually wish they had at least finished a full season.

So I would agree that season 9 wasn't horrible from start to finish, I think a lot of the hate is 100% justified with how they handled certain people.

IMO the best thing they could've done with the show was rebrand S9 as a new show. Calling it "Scrubs: Season 9" was a mistake because it brought up comparisons and criticisms and all that.

They could've even done the same thing but called it "Scrubs: Interns" or something like that, and tried to make it its own show instead of a continuation of a show that already had a (fantastic) finale.

I don't know, I just feel like maybe people would've given it a better chance had it been presented as a new show with new characters (and some overlap of the previous show).

You are in for a good ride if you haven't seen very many episodes. Scrubs was an awesome sitcom.

While asily being one of the funniest shows I've ever watched, I love it because I've been told by multiple doctors and students that the lessons and messages on the life of doctors is very close to home.

BTW I Started a rewatch a while ago and im getting to the really sad episode in season 5

I asked my dr buddy at a wedding the other night if working at a hospital was exactly like Scrubs or just mostly like Scrubs, and he said its actually pretty close.

If you work in healthcare, you appreciate scrubs even more bc they actually get a lot of things right in regards to actual medicine. I've been researching House and there's so many flaws it's comical but the acting is pretty good so I try to overlook the ridiculousness of some of the things they do.
