I don't have high hopes if Kennedy is associated with it
Phoebe Waller Bridge is awesome, so if it was in someone elses hands, I might be intrigued, but otherwise, I'll set my expectations as the bottom, which is exactly how I view Crystal Skull

Why not just make a new franchise with a female archaeologist who adventures? This relabeling of stuff is weak and tanks movies.

But the problems with Crystal Skull weren't because of Harrison Ford, were they? I haven't seen it because of literally everyone's reaction so I don't know.

I thought this was announced like 6 months ago.
I'm against it, but Waller-Bridge was fairly solid in Fleabag. Not sure how she would hold up to an action/adventure/comedy role though.

Someone in another thread made a good point I thought. Instead of rebooting things that have already been done, how about Hollywood come up with some new ideas and material?

I don't know if they'll ever get fully back to that. It costs so much to make a widely distributed movie, even without special effects, that most companies won't roll the dice on something without a built-in fanbase. A movie with really good effects can cost 150-200 million; hard to give that kind of cash out in the hopes that a "never heard of" strikes it big.
Not saying that justifies what they're doing, but just one of the reasons that they do. I mean, we get remakes where they don't change the race/gender of the protagonist as well, and they're hit or miss financially.
Dredd (2012) - Great movie, poor box office
Robocop (2014) - Okay movie, did not make enough cash
There's probably more, but I'm lazy
