Things to do in Denver when you’re Dead.

Good underrated one. Millers crossing, Layer Cake, and Carlitos Way as mentioned are awesome as well.

The Godfather, Parts 1 and 2
Once Upon a Time in America
Goodfellas
Casino
Donnie Brasco
A Bronx Tale
The Irishman
The Departed
The Town
Gone Baby Gone isn’t quite on topic but very good
British Crime films:
Layer Cake
Snatch
Lock, Stock, and 2 Smoking Barrels
Sexy Beast
The Gentlemen
Get Carter is the original, I think.
I would say Rock N’Rolla is decent but not as good as the others
Russian Mob:
We Own the Night
Eastern Promises
The French Connection is good, and American Gangster shows the black drug dealer point of view. Apparently Denzel makes Frank Lucas look much more intelligent and sane than he really is.
Then you have the 1990s urban crime genre. Not mob per se but you have stuff like:
Boyz N The Hood
Menace II Society
New Jack City
Gomorrah shows the Italian (not Italian-American) angle. I didn’t love it, but it’s interesting and worth mentioning.
Zero Zero Zero is a show that shows how it’s all connected. Set in New Orleans, Italy, Mexico, and even Mali.
No Sudden Move is a cool one from a few years ago, more focused on the corruption and crime in the 1950s than classic mob stuff, but I strongly recommend it.
On the Waterfront for the labor point of view from the 50s.

Roaring Twenties. Cagney and Bogart.

Consider The Untouchables TV series from 59-63. Over 100 episodes depicting Elliott Ness and team vs the Chicago mob. It holds up well. 1960 Hollywood depicting 1930s Chicago.

The Big Heat with Glenn Ford, Gloria Grahame and Lee Marvin is really good.

That was one of his more subtle roles and I really liked the interaction of the cop and him at the end of the movie.

Reservoir Dogs
Every time I hear the song "Stuck in the Middle with You" It takes me back to 1 one of my favorite gangster movies.
