I feel like the people that don’t like the show are the same type of people that argued they didn’t like BOB because the characters were unrealistic like 6 months ago in that rewatch thread.
It’s not a random character made for your needs as an avant-garde media critic.
He’s portraying a specific character from a very formulaic 25 book series.
And damn. Hes good. He’s way better than I thought he would be.
Very bingeworthy. Some people just can’t enjoy anything can they?

Just finished binging this the last 2 days.
From someone who hasnt read any of the Reacher novels, I enjoyed it.
My only complaint would be how much difficulty Reacher had in fighting Kliner’s meth head looking nephew

I had to laugh a little because despite the violence, tits, language, and that one pretty fricked up murder crime scene.. it is PG compared to Banshee.

I binged the hell out of it.
It's got a very 80's action movie vibe.
Only complain was the last episode.. bad guy telling the whole reveal trope..
But again, that was very 80s

Yeah that was dumb.
book Spoilers
In the book, the kliner kid who is a big stocky guy is the leader of the kill squad and his last kill out by the pool. And he has a little trouble with that kill only but isn't knocked out in the pool and going toe to to before that.

Well he did have a crowbar which, amazingly, left no marks on Reacher the next day.
It’s funny somebody compared it to a John Cena movie because the series reminded me of a more dramatic version of Peacemaker.

I don't know what it's called but I also liked the background music/noise during the intense scenes similar to Sicario.

I love the show but he seems to be a bit of an autistic arse kicker at times

I liked the series. Story stayed true to the book until episode 4/5. I didn’t really like bringing in the extra people as Reacher really is a loner. But overall, it was a great series and good casting and a good story. Hope they make some more.

The P.I. character wasn't in the book, right?
Posted on 2/7/22 at 8:20 am to Maximus
I don’t remember any P..I. in the book. That’s the only part I didn’t like. Just because Reacher is such a loner. I didn’t hate the changes they made from the book besides that part. Only part I didn’t like ***spoilers*** is when he had such a hard time taking down the meth head cousin…and that getting hit with a crowbar repeatedly did little to him. Needed to go one way or the other there.
Still good overall. Even the wife (no pics) really liked it. And she hated the Tom Cruise movie.

From Wikipedia:
quote:
Frances Neagley, late 30s, is a partner with a successful private security firm, and former Army Master Sergeant in the Army Military Police. She is of medium height, slim, and has dark hair and eyes. She spends large amounts of time in the gym and has a purely platonic relationship with Reacher. However, in Night School (2016), NSA senior Deputy Marian Sinclair notes Neagley's attraction to Reacher, and her refusal to sleep with him.[64] Reacher points out that Neagley has haptephobia, "A fear of being touched."[64] When Sinclair asks if the condition is as a result of assault, Reacher responds, "She says she was born with it."[65] Her demeanor suggests that she could be considered a female counterpart to Reacher. Rarely impressed, Reacher describes her as sometimes scary. She appears in Without Fail, The Affair, Bad Luck and Trouble, Night School, and Small Wars and is mentioned in Never Go Back. The first page of Bad Luck and Trouble includes a dedication "For the real Frances L. Neagley", who won a Bouchercon charity auction for the naming rights to a character.[66] Neagley appears as a recurring character in the Reacher TV series, played by Maria Sten.
So not sure if the character was in the first book or not, but she is definitely in the Reacher book universe

Looks like no. This book was the killing floor. I only read the first 5 or so books and I don't think any are listed above.
He also stakes out the place under an overpass and meets a homeless guy in the book if I remember correctly. Better than sitting in a van with Finlay

Watched four episodes Sunday night and two last night. I've really enjoyed it. Him driving the Bentley seemed way out of character, but the van is more what I'd expect him to use. A Bentley would stick out, like a sore thumb, in Margrave. I haven't seen a Bentley since I left Dallas. Must not be any in Ruston for me to have not seen one in the Temple Baptist parking lot.
Has Amazon talked about doing more seasons?
Wish the people on the OT would take Lee Child's advise on articles from The Daily Mail.

Child made his own headlines this summer when he told The Daily Mail he's smoked marijuana five nights a week for the past 44 years. Last month, he clarified his comments to the Irish Examiner, saying he's never written while high.
"Yeah, that's true," Child told The Post-Standard. "I mean, people say to me, 'there was that story in the newspaper,' and I say, "No, that's The Daily Mail.' In Britain, that's not a newspaper, you know, that's a scandal sheet where they make stuff up. It's not very reliable. And certainly I don't deny smoking the occasional joint, but I don't work when I'm stoned because you don't get much done that way."

quote:Eh, I'm not saying he needs to be Daniel Day Lewis, but he's not conveying a deep intelligence with his limited acting range. I'm sure there are/were good actors who are also large human beings. Someone suggested Liev Shreiber and I agree he'd be a good choice.
Cast Tom cruise, people complain he's not 6'3 240. Cast someone 6'3 240, people complain he's not Sheldon Cooper.

I have read all the Reacher books up until the last 5 years . . . the Cruise portrayal of Reacher messed with my book reading enjoyment. This series has restored my enjoyment of Reacher.
My main complaint about the series was the climatic fight . . . too much smoke to see what the heck was going on. Other than that, it was a lighthearted action story, much like the books.

I agree, enjoyed the show but that final fight didn't really do it for me. He did more badass shite earlier vs the foot soldiers he should have picked the final guy up and stared him in the eyes and snapped his neck or something. Enjoyable show though and I'll watch a season 2.

Never read the books, saw the Tom Cruise movie and thought it was okay. Only reason why I'm gonna start this series is bc the dude from Blue Mountain State is in it.
