It’s all in the game

So many good moments in the show and so many heartbreaking ones

The Wire, as someone who worked in LE for 20 years, really is accurate. Everyone is just trying to get by. In the movies or TV its all high ideals, in real life you are just tying to pay the mortgage and come out ahead. So much truth in that series. I have watched it all the way through three times and I get depressed every time when it ends.

it is pretty interesting seeing bunny talking about community policing while Herc and the gang just want to bust heads

war drugs is a war on our own community and our own people

this seems to be even worse today with military grade weapons and tactics being utilized by former military and now police.

which is always funny because in so many of these examples you have police officers living in multi-million dollar apartments and shite

Nice grammar. I have no idea how people can talk/think like this and expect to garner any respect.

I like Trump and I like The Wire. I don't really see the connection.

Shite David Simon could have just taken the same story line and placed it in New Orleans instead of doing "Treme". The mayor, NOPD, and newspaper interplay mirrors what the series detailed in Baltimore. They sho nuff could find plenty of locals to make it realistic.

That would have been way better.

There is none. Dude's an idiot.

The wire is so good and by far my favorite show. Only complaint is how depressing it could be (was necessary for the show).

Dukie in particular. The scene with him and Michael in the car saying goodbye to each other is just crushing. Especially when Dukie looks back and Mike is gone. You just knew where it was headed after that.

I mean that was the beauty of the show, everything coming full circle, and people trying to break the cycle.

Early on you could see Kima becoming McNulty, high minded but slowly getting grinded down by the game. Then you see Frank’s nephew desperately trying to break his cycle but unfortunately it’s a futile effort.

Dukie is turning into bubbles, Michael into Omar, Marlo into Avon but worse. The you see people like Daniels fighting so hard to not turn into a crooked official, Mayor Carcetti trying not to fall into the same traps as the ones before him, the list goes on and on and on.

Most people that fought against the system lost, like Stringer Bell or D’Angelo Barksdale. A few lucky ones like Bunny fought and came out okay.

Just a great show

Except Gus

wasn't Gus's character based on David Simon himself? As he was a reporter for the B-more Sun correct? Not that I don't disagree with your theory, he really didn't have any bad scenes. Amazing show, I have heard rumors of something in the works with the Wire Universe, hopefully it has to do with the end of The Duece when Frankie moves to Baltimore and shows the Barksdale rise.

Finished my first watch of The Wire about three weeks ago. I agree, the last season was a letdown compared to the others, but overall it ranks in the top 10 of my favorite series I've watched.

This was my biggest complaint about the show. After revealing the horrible underbelly of every institution, why, wouldn't you know it was the showrunner's industry that was portrayed in such a pure way!

Was it portrayed in a pure way? They buy into a fake story to sell papers.
