Thought this might be a fun thread style.

Basically take an ensemble show that took (mostly) smaller or unknown actors and then had long running success and then rank them based on who went on to be the biggest stars. And i'll limit it to regulars.

(Btw, Jesse Plemons bizarre success is what spurned this idea)

1.Michael B. Jordan
2.Kyle Chandler
3.Connie Britton

The next 2 will almost assuredly flip in the next few years based on trajectory.

4.Taylor Kitsch
5.Jesse Plemons

Next in line is probably Jurnee Smollett honestly lol.

The fact that Kitsch isnt a runaway #1 shows how hard his career fell.

I also wont be shocked if Plemons ends up as high as 2.

Is MBJ bigger now than Kitsch was from 2011-2015?

Great topic.
Your list is good.
Poor role choices derailed Kitsch and Adrienne Palicki.
She was great in John Wick 2, btw. So hot.
Plemons' success baffles me, I hate him.

Jesse Plemons performance in Game Night is one of the funniest in recent history. He's great.

Here's another one Dazed and Confused

1. Matthew McConaughey
2. Batfleck

3. Milla Jovovich (made a lot from the Resident Evil series)
4. Cole Hauser

5. Adam Goldberg (appeared in Friends)
6. Parker Posey (former indie film darling)

7. Jason London (him and his twin got beat up by father time)
8. Rory Cochrane
9. Joey Lauren Adams (would have been bigger but Renee Zellweger happened)

The rest

In response to the FNL cast....

1. MBJ clearly spun of the most successful career. Off the top of my head...Black Panther, Creed, That Awkward Moment, Fantastic Four (even tho it was a bust), appearance on Ridiculousness.

2. Kyle Chandler fit the coach Taylor role perfectly, but I don't think it was a career igniting role for him. I remember him in Pure Country with George Strait. He played the FBI agent well in Wolf of Wall Street. He has his role in the King Kong/Godzilla movies. I love him as an actor regardless of his resume.

3. Taylor Kitsch has had a disappointing run since FNL. Some bad movie choices like the OP stated, but still disappointing to see he couldn't rebound. I liked him Savages.

Some shows to consider and the actors/actresses that come to mind in no particular order:

1. Cheers - Danson, Harrelson
2. Stranger Things - Milli Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard will continue on with their career because of this show
3. The OC - Barton, Brody, Bilson
4. Melrose Place - Locklear
5. Will & Grace - all actors had post show castings

I can probably think of more, but too lazy to continue.

A lot of really good options. I just try and go back in time and its cool how differently things actually workout based on what you would predict at the time.

In movies maybe, but I'd say he rebounded in a big way in the Waco miniseries. He was fantastic in that.

Freaks & Geeks is a good one (except for the "long running success" part )

1. James Franco
2. Seth Rogen
3. Linda Cardellini
4. Jason Segel
5. John Francis Daley (as a writer, not an actor)
6. Busy Phillips
7. Martin Starr
8. Samm Lavine

5.Jesse Plemons

I feel like this has already happened. Plemons has a ton of movies either in production or post production right now, including a Scorcese and Dicaprio film where he's one of the leads.

Yes, easily. It seems like Kitsch is being inflated in this thread. Black Panther and the Creed movies are significantly more popular and more successful than anything Kitsch has ever done.

I think there's a strong case for Plemmons at 3. Maybe even him and Chandler at 2A and 2B. Plemmons is in everything now, and only seems to be getting better at actually acting.

“Bloodline” has arguably been his biggest role since FNL.

Are we really going to put Plemons at 5?

Id say number 2, arguably number 1 if you want to go purely off prestige of the filmography.

MBJ certainly has been the lead in more commercially big projects but Plemons....hes been cast in prominent roles in 2 spielberg movies, has been in a scorsese movie and is the LEAD in Scorseses next movie. Major role in a movie nominated for best picture (judas and black messiah). Is the villain in Jungle Cruise.

Im not saying I get it but Plemons has to be number 2 maybe number 1. BTW while looking at his filmography on wiki I found out hes married to Kristen Dunst

The guy must just be really awesome to be around on set because I certainly dont get how his star got as big at it is. Friggin todd

Plemmons was in that one season of Fargo with Dunst as well. I'm usually not a huge Dunst fan, and usually hate that Minnesota accent, but her with that accent in Fargo really did it for me
