RLM is funny, but they overly nitpick things to be funny. Definitely entertaining though.
I assume OML's exact feelings on Prometheus fan directly in line with what RLM says in that video though.

3:33 in that video = my question

Watched it this weekend.
It was not the train wreck that had been destroyed on this board, but there were plenty of problems (starting with, how are such smart people so fricking stupid?)

Movie was still disappointing regardless of goo explanation.
I went into this movie expecting absolutely nothing and I loved it. watched it in 3D and it was amazing.
Ridley said it wasn't Alien, so I didn't expect it, but was pleasantly surprised by the connections to Alien.
hating on this movie is the cool thing to do, but it's getting old. sorry it didn't meet everyone's expectations of being Alien 4

I didn't know shite about the movie either when I saw it.
When the movie started, I thought, "This movie could be really bad arse."
By the end of the film, I was like, "I was entertained but it could have been so much better if it wasn't so fricking stupid."

like James Cameron's Avatar?
Posted on 4/15/13 at 1:51 pm to TH03
No, nothing like that.
After my first viewing of Avatar, I was like, "Wow, I will definitely watch this again sometime."

Avatar was garbage. "Oh we need unobtanium"
So original and thought provoking to copy the story of Indians in America, make it on some distant planet in the future, and make it look really pretty.

Prometheus is definitely an "Alien" movie.
The million questions were raised because of shitty Lost writing.
As for goo, most of the explanations are generally fine for how it works. The problems arose from how the characters decided to interact with it and their motivations for doing so.

I didn't come out of that movie wondering was the goo was. I thought it was pretty self explanatory.

So were they still in the Matrix the whole time?
Was the original Matrix just a Matrix INSIDE the Matrix?

yea, true
I just think people either try too hard to understand it, or are just going to bash it no matter what because it's the cool thing to do

when they first enter the big room with the canisters, the murals on the wall depicted a standard, Alien-style xenomorph. LINK
which i guess means the goo-chain to produce a xenomorph had already happened in the past, with earlier human test subjects? ugh.
I think the mural clearly demonstrates that the xenomorph far preexisted what occurred in Prometheus. Clearly the engineers had an appreciation for the xenomorph creature and its capabilities as evidenced by the mural. I don't think that necessarily means that human test subjects were involved, there's no real way of knowing that at this point...
