Yea this has fallen well short of the two aforementioned shows. It’s “interesting” but not something that makes me be like “oh my god I gotta know what’s happening”
Also the third person conversations annoy the shite out of me for some reason.

I don't know if it was this episode or the last when Zosia mentioned something about how the hive communicates via eletromagnetism or something. It made me think Carol (and/or Manousos) is going to get Zosia into a metal safe or some other shielded room to free her from the hive, at least temporarily.
Atomic Bombs have EMPs attached, don't they?

Entertaining, but …
I’m having a hard time believing that Carol would set herself up like this and go on a five star world holiday with Zosia for the sake of cosplaying like they were lovers. She’s always known the truth. It just feels like a little detour was taken so that they could end up with the proverbial or actual atomic bomb at the end.
Raise your hand if you really think that’s an atomic bomb in the box, because what else could it be?

No, atomic blasts cause EMP. Unless that’s what you meant to say.

Sorry, a lifetime of incorrect movies has misled me to believe that an additional EMP was employed that was activated before detonation high in the atmosphere to immobilize things and maximize damage...
Okay, so the hive is connected through electromagnetic fields from each body. Detonating the atom bomb high enough would result in an EMP that "freed" at least some of the hive in the range, if somehow the blast and radiation didn't kill them. Manousos has been studying the radio frequencies, Faraday Cages, etc., if you've paid attention to the books on his desk in his office...

It is certainly an atomic bomb in the box. Just as it was an actual hand grenade.
Carol was so deprived of... companionship and human interaction and... love, that she deluded herself. Yes, she fell for it... it was all designed by the Hive to make sure that she did... Zosia performed it all perfectly. But The Hive is not capable of romantic love or true affection... the opening with the Kusimayu's pet goat was a bit of a foreshadowed warning of that...

I don't know if an EMP would reset them to their factory (Human) settings. That's just how they communicate. Because remember, they were infected with the 4 nucleotide pathogen, and the very first one was able to work on autopilot and grow the hive.
They could have an EMP device in their w/out it being an actual A-bomb, but I'm not up on the details on that.

Also... if the Hive can extract Carol's stem cells from her frozen eggs...
couldn't they do the same with all that baby batter Khoumba has been leaving in his harem?

One of my problems with Carol and Zosia going to all these places is the travel time. Carol, who has traveled a fair bit in her career, would realize that this was a scam. Many hours in between the tropical beach, the mountain slopes and cozy cottage... we the audience just see them at the highlight points. I do wonder where they went, wonder if that info is in the official podcast.

My best guess is that she wants the atom bomb to drop on whatever area is storing her eggs.
But based on the hive's behavior, I think that she may have been able to simply ask them to stop messing with her eggs (or to take them to her) and succeeded.
"Atom bomb" may also be a a euphemism for some other object that she can use to frick up the hive's plans.
An interesting thing from this episode: Manounos gave the hive a heads up that he was going to freak them out/seizure. Carol just needs one of the hive present to do the same and drastically delay the stem cell studies, and now has a sort-of "out" in terms of doing it morally without killing to many of them.

Maybe the atom bomb is there to keep them away.
My issue is her being sooo seduced psychologically and physically that she stopped asking questions. Was she that lost in her fantasy lover and of a great life (that she admittedly says she didn’t feel she deserved) that she stopped asking questions? At least not until she is sitting in a chalet on a snow-covered peak?
I seriously thought she was putting them on before Peruvian guy showed up - never crossed my mind she was that shallow and emotionally weak. It just didn’t “fit” the character we had seen thus far.
I mean Peru guy didn’t fall for it when his mother showed up to attempt to nurture him and give him food. Btw, I find that guy way more interesting than Carol.

Haven’t been able to watch it yet. But what is the general consensus on the episode?

Women...I mean damn. They can't get out of their own way and can't handle solitude to the point Carol almost gave up on fixing the world even though the evil is literally staring her in the face and killed her partner right in front of her.
Get. It. Together. Carol.

Anyone else get the feeling one of the plot twists may be that the Indian woman ends up being a key player?
I get the feeling she's going experience something that brings her to her senses.

This is what I was thinking. Why couldn’t she just be like “bring me my fricking eggs”
Also, is it that hard to believe Carol got roped into the fantasy life? Anybody in here who thinks they wouldn’t be tempted with a life in which they could do whatever the frick they want and have whatever pleasures and knowledge they could ever imagine at least for a couple months is fricking lying

Maybe French guy had nothing going on in his life before so yeah he's living it up but Carol watched the brutal murder of her partner at the hands of the alien virus and now she's swapping spit with alien juice.
Maybe I'm not a tv character but holy frick it's only been 3 months. Have some dignity or respect, Carol. If my kids and wife were taken from me getting laid is the last thing I'm going to be thinking about

In VG's style, he's making it where nobody is a likeable character. They are all sinners. Which plays into the Garden of Eden theme he has built.

I felt it was predictable and probably overly much. They didn't just do the conflict thing, they amped it up a few notches, instead of dragging it out across a few episodes.
The worst part of this is the amount of time it'll take before we get another 8 episode season.
And with no CG dragons, Titans or galactic federations, I just don't see why this show can't return in a year.
