The last Pirates of the Caribbean, 2017’s Dead Men Tell No Tales, was the lowest grossing in the franchise with $795.9M worldwide. Through five movies, the rich Disney live-action franchise has minted $4.5 billion at the global box office.

They probably need to let it die, but if they want to keep going it could use a shake-up. I'm not sure this is it but their trajectory has been negative so I guess you have to try something.

they were never gonna be able to match the first movie, or the first 3. the 4th and 5th movies are still very enjoyable, I think the 6th one will be as well

Making the male protagonist who built the entire brand a side character in his own franchise in lieu of a female character is one of Hollywoods standard tricks the past decade.

What they should do is make it where Jack Sparrow does a bunch of really out of character embarrassing things that show how old and irrelevant he has become. We can all laugh at him and cheer for Margot Robbie’s character as she teaches him a thing or two. I can’t wait.

didn't they kind of try that already with Penelope Cruz in the 4th movie which was the worst one. That said I think Robbie is a light years better actress.
If they do a Anne Bonny from Black Sails type character i will be all for it. But being a Disney movie I doubt it.

Margot Robbie has the star power to lead a movie but she can’t transform a script like Depp did.
That said, if they want the franchise to keep running, they need to move away from Depp because he’s just too old to really do it anymore, nevermind his off camera issues.
He’s 63 for God’s sake. He’s not a swashbuckling pirate anymore.

Were people asking for a Pirates Margot Robbie movie? What's wrong with the nth tale of Captain Jack Sparrow? I've always watched the PotC series for Captain Jack. Plenty of side characters to fill out the movie like they always do. But no, I guess we're getting pirate Furiosa instead. Is there any booty involved?

You do realize Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie are not the same person, right? One is Aussie and 36, the other is South African and 51 (and batshit crazy).
