Any other baw watch this series?

Just binged my way through season 3, a few into season 4

Great acting, good story

The cast they have for this Cilian Murphy, Tom Hardy appears in stints, Adrien Brody?

Damn the money they must spend on this show is ridiculous

It is one of my favorites.

Lost it’s way a bit in s3 but s4 might be my favorite season, despite Adrien Brody’s overacting.

I was with you until here. I'd like to think of another actor that could pull off early 1900 Italian, America mob, but I can't.

Back when these episodes came out I was wondering if Brody's language, accent, and gestures were believable, and found this discussion. Opinions were all over the place :

I liked it when it first came out, but it can at times feel a little hokey. The resolutions of Thomas Shelby's plans tend to feel kind of unsatisfying as if there should be more to it. And yes, I agree that Brody over-acted some with his character.

EDIT: I was waiting for the downvote. God forbid anyone ever have differing opinions.

What are you talking about? He played the part of Marlon Brando as Vito Corleone playing Luca Changretta better than anyone could.

Love the series but was very disappointed in the story line that has Luca as the son of English Italian parents that have lived in Birmingham their entire lives but he speaks English with a strong New York accent?

It's been a few months since I watched S4, but didn't they say Luca was sent to/raised in NYC? If so, there you go re: the accent. He definitely came from NYC to Birmingham for his vendetta.

I asked the board for show recommendations awhile back and ended up going with this one. I give it a solid 3 out of 4 stars. It is beautifully shot. Season 3 with the Russians is a bit much. I did like Season 4.

I wish I had realized earlier on that it was essentially an action show and not all that deep. I kept waiting for Mad Men style deepness to arrive, but that is not what this show is.

Cilian Murphy is legit terrifying.

The show really took off for me halfway though Season 1 when I put on close captioning.

Fantastic series. Easily my favorite Netflix series, even though it's a BBC original. All of the seasons are really good, with the third season being the weakest. I do have to say, though, that the Russian beauty who was an absolute freak in Tommy's mansion was the highlight of the season.

Steven Knight, the creator, is really a hell of writer who's hitting his stride now. He wrote Locke, Eastern Promises, and Taboo. If you like period pieces you should check out Taboo, which premiered on FX last year. Early 1800's period piece with Tom Hardy as the lead.

Knight also has a new film he wrote and is directing called Serenity coming out in October. It's supposed to be a neo-noir thriller and stars Matthew McConaughey, Hathaway, and Diane Lane. Anything mystery-related with MM and I'm in. Hathaway looks damn sexy with blonde hair, too.
