Johnny Dogs best character and it isn’t even close. I will die on this hill. That is all.

No, Alfie is a count.

Maybe but he’s a fantastic character

Arthur and Alfie. Seeing a bit of Arthur's vulnerability in the later seasons added depth. Alfie as an Orthodox Brother being so vicious and cunning is magnificent.

He was nothing but a sniveling child by the end of the series. Sure, it's great to show vulnerability as it does add depth to character. However, the showrunners went way too far with Arthur. I also couldn't get behind the idea of Tommy being a hardened atheist while, at the same time, also a devout believer in curses, magic, and the like.

There are to many. Depends on the episode and season.

Yep. Tommy and Arthur and Alfie are consistently great. I like the regular dudes a lot too. Curly and the old man (Charlie?) Were two of my favorites.

Wait, y’all forgot the obvious “supporting” character qualifier. Without that, any answer other than Thomas fvcking Shelby is absolute madness.
After Thomas, it’s a tie between Alfie and Polly.

Obviously the mainline Shelbys (Tommy, Arthur, Polly) are tops in the show.
But outside of them I love Johnny Dogs too. Love that in this crazy show full of betrayal and plotting, Tommy has a truly loyal soldier he can trust to get anything done.
And it’s never really explained WHY Tommy knows he can trust him, so there is a little mystery/intrigue left hanging there which I like.

Of his various adversaries i thought Father Hughes was the most frightening. Sir Oswald Mosley was entertaining and weirdly likable which is hard to pull off when he’s a literal fascist and supporter of Hitler. Arthur pre marriage was great but his wife ruined him. Aberama was a badass and I hate how his son and him both went out I don’t see him letting the Billy Boys get the jump on him like that.

Anyone who says anyone other than Alfie is just fricking wrong.

Who keeps down voting everything? The only answer is Arthur and Alfie. The best character is the main character Thomas.

For his first couple of seasons I really enjoyed Michael's character as he evolved from an innocent kid into a cold-hearted gangster, but once they changed him from "trusted family member" to "shifty pussy-whipped traitor" I quickly lost interest.
The answer to the question is Tommy. I eventually grew tired of everyone else's "Enjoy being rich while being angry at Tommy for making them all rich" routine. It isn't like they weren't all already criminals before he took over running things.
