Daniel Radcliffe is such a shitty actor he made the movies damn near unwatchable.
If you want to see him at his truly worst (best?) check out the movie "Horns." Holy frick is he bad in it.

You've obviously never read the books then
With a couple obvious plot exceptions, the
"Half-blood Prince book was basically a CW teen romance melodrama. I'm not seeing how that would make the movie seem terrible.

I mean really, the Death Eaters just show up blackout drunk after Christmas Dinner to the Weasley’s House?
This made me bust out laughing IRL, my wife looked at me weird. I never thought of it that way, but you are totally right. It’s just a weird fricking change.

When Harry confronted Snape in the books, it was fricking epic where they’re shouting at each other over the roaring fires, and they mutually devistate each other. In the movie it was just treated as a fun fact after Alan Rickman took like 4 Ambien. Just awful.
Totally agree, they did a lot of bad shite to the fighting. The dissolve ending of Voldy as opposed to the lifeless body in the books is just an awful change. As is the whole stupid arse flying fight between the two, I missed the walking in circle shite talking ending of the books. About the only one they improved was the weird arse curtain killing of Sirius, at least the movies had him hit with an avada kedavra.

He was great in Swiss army man

That is not really crucial to the plot.

How have I not seen this? That scene was amazing. Thank you for sharing.

An unforgivable change. That part of the book is so badass and really completes Harry's arc with Voldemort.

They should have done a stronger deep dive on Neville, his parents, and his backstory. That was such a richly developed character, and they just skipped most of it.

Azkaban is one that pisses me off the most, it's not the worst, but it's the beginning of the bad.
Azkaban is the best Harry Potter movie.
It captures everything perfectly and is the best version of Hogwarts .

Agreed. The first three are my favorite movies as they follow the books the closest.
One thing I have noticed is that the actor that plays Ron was WAY better as a little kid than he is later in the series. His acting actually got worse as they went along....

They turned Half Blood Prince into a teen drama.
And showed again that Gambon didn't have a clue how to play Dumbledore. When Harry finally gets the memory from Slughorn and they confirm Voldemort was all about horcurxes, in the movie, Harry asks what the other ones could be, Dumbledore hits the floor and emphatically throws up his hands "I have no idea, they could be anywhere".
No, you dumbass. That was the whole point of showing Harry all of those memories. Voldemort valued items of significant magical importance, especially those tied to Hogwarts. Dumbledore spend the final part of his life giving Harry a road map.
Plus that abortion of turning Harry into a coward on the tower and the anticlimatic escape of Snape and Malfoy...........one of my favorite books was properly shite on.

All of them did. It's like the only direction they got was "be as awkward and confused looking as possible".

Listening to the audio books now after seeing all of the movies multiple times. Just finished The Order of the Pheonix. I am enjoying them. But my word is Hermione's obsession with "elf rights" bruuuuuutal in the books. Great call omitting that from the movies, should have been omitted from the books too.
There are a few sections, "elf rights" featuring prominently, that really drag in the books. Its not an uncommon problem when a writer becomes super successful. If you are an editor you can't really veto something a writer who is bringing in millions of dollars wants in their book, even if it is terrible. If a Stephen King, David Webber, or (God help us all) George RR Martin really wants to spend ten pages discussing the mating habits of cicadas in their novel there isn't much that can be done to stop it.
On the other hand I thought the scene in Order of the Phoenix about Neville visiting his parents in the asylum was one of the best things that Rowling wrote... and it didn't make the movies because the set up would have been too long for a movie that was already running a bit long.

Rowling seems to have gone all in for making as much money as possible, so it could happen.
Rowling pisses me off because I'm not sure there's any other book, series, movie, comic, etc. where the creator just Tweets on canon, in some cases even retconing the books.

I don't remember, did the movies even touch on the fact that Neville could have very well been targeted by Voldemort instead of Harry?

What are some examples of this? I'm curious why she would change a part of the book after the fact. It seems like a good way to annoy her fans.

Here's a pretty good article on it. I'm sure there are plenty of others out there.

SLIGHT SPOILERS ON THE UPCOMING MOVIE REGARDING NAGINI
One example is the fact that Nagini was/is actually a person that got stuck in a serpent form.
quote:
Most recently, Rowling tweeted out a long explanation for one of the series’ most alarming retcons. The final trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, a sequel that takes place roughly 70 years before the events of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, confirmed that Nagini is a woman. Prior to the tease, Nagini was only as Lord Voldemort’s loyal serpent and a host for his horcrux. Now, she’s a Maledictus — a human that can transform into an animal, but will eventually lose the ability to return to her human state

It’s the most divisive. Seems to be loved or hated. I like Columbus Potters better than the rest. First one will always be my favorite. It did a good job of introducing everything, building up the school atmosphere, and getting the plot to work.
Azkaban has too much artsy shite in it. I really wish Columbus would of did all of them.

I am not sure, but it was a major plot point wasn't it?

To be fair that was not Gambon's fault, it's what Yates instructed him to perform. Every problem the fans have with Gambon deals with the direction, not his performance.
