By the way...Grace Randolph is reporting that the movie in question is Spider-Woman

Jessica Drew has a GREAT backstory. If done properly, it could jump across multiple time periods and synch with Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Drew was brainwashed by HYDRA, then put into Cryosleep), Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 (rumored that the High Evolutionary is the primary antagonist and he gave Drew her powers) and Captain Marvel (member of Carol's Accuser Corps). She also crosses over with the Fantastic Four (one of her missions was to kidnap Alicia Masters) and becomes a single mom at one point (she goes to a sperm bank).

THIS role would be the one you cast someone like Daisy Ridley, Millie Bobbi Brown or Camilla Luddington.

If it’s Silver and Black, I’m in purely for the sexy cosplay that would come from it.

I'm already seeing her name being mentioned a lot. Wouldn't be surprised if she gets it.

She's the FIRST name that came to mind.

British? Check
Pretty? Check
Above-Average Height? Check
Already established as someone with the potential to carry a franchise? Check
Already established as a heroine? Check
Brunette? Check
Easy on the eyes? Check
Under 30? Check

The thing that would be a challenge is that in Spider-Woman's story, she has to begin as the VILLAIN.

It would be like The Winter Soldier told from Bucky Barnes' perspective instead of Steve Rogers'. Maybe even have Sebastian Stan cameo as Bucky helping her mentally cope with the brainwashing after it's removed.

I like it. Booksmart was a blast, and Patty Jenkins shows that creative women can make a hell of a comic book movie

Well, if it's broke, it must be woke.

Captain Marvel had a big tiddied girl who doesn't act very well, but I never saw what the "woke" message was supposed to be.

I'm a politard and even I get lost in all the faux outrage on this board. Studios want to sell tickets to women and minorities.

For the superhero movies especially, they're trying to figure out ways for Nerd Dads to count the new superhero movie as a "Daddy/Daughter" event. It's about ticket sales. Not much more to figure out than that. It's not like Marvel has gone "Last Jedi" on us and thrown a bunch of message at the wall to see what sticks.

Two of the three are definitely woke. Had Black Widow come out on time I'm pretty sure it would have been three out of four. And then you have non-superhero female-centric films like Ghostbusters (2016), Ocean's 8, and the newest Charlie's Angels film.

You definitely didn't see Ocean's 8 or Charlie's Angels. Calling those woke is idiotic. As has been said, having women in lead roles is not woke, it's having women in lead roles. And having women be vocal about some cause outside of a movie role doesn't make anything said woman touches woke.

If captain Marvel is woke, so is captain America the first avenger. Casting the well chested girl is probably your first sign it isn't woke.

Get ready for more “you should smile more” moments from random men in these movies.

And get ready for the blame game when these movies fail.

Sad thing is, I’m sure there’s plenty of women who would do a great job at these movies, but when they make it about WOMEN!!!!!, give me a fricking break.

It’s the Starbucks red cup phenomenon. There’s more people bitching about people bitching about the red cups than there are people bitching about the red cups.

If she can call Dr. House, it might be ok. Otherwise, I don’t know why they think she is qualified for this.

I didn't need to see them to know they were woke and calling them woke fits their definition perfectly. Ocean's 8 was your typical bait and switch. How do we get people into the theater to watch an action/comedy starring exclusively women? Oh! We take an already established franchise, add an unknown backstory (Danny Ocean's sister) and have that backstory build their own crew to heist a diamond or some shite. And that entire crew will be made up of women!

That's Woke filmmaking 101. They did the same thing with Ghostbusters back in 2016.

As for Charlie's Angels - every single male in the film was either a buffoon or a villain. That's why they made Bosley a female in their version of Charlie's Angels because they couldn't have a likeable white male in their movie. Birds of Prey made a similar movie around the same time by casting every single white male as a piece of shite or as a villain.

Sony’s spiderverse isn’t going to be part of the MCU, this will most likely be in the same universe as Venom.
