Yeah, I think they gave 20 miles as breathing room. Never thought they would attempt to put them all down.

Assuming 20 miles was the least amount, I assumed that for the most part, most of them would continue walking forward even after 20 miles, following the noise of others.

thought they were going to lead them away and then try and exterminate them somehow. Is that not the feeling most people got?

Not at all IMO. It was a "shoot the ones that escape through the tiny opening, but we'll lead them many miles away to get them out of our back yard" kind of thing.

Best way to get rid of them would be to snipe the few that squeeze thru the 2 trailers. In meantime get a steam roller from where ever the local asphalt company is. Build steel mesh guards around it and roll it over the hordes in the pit.

I would pay good money to be the driver.

Or get one of those tractors from the place Glenn cleared. Find a combine somewhere and run them down like rows of corn

Seems like they could've set up a dozer at the top of the quarry path and just shoved the walkers off at their leisure. No bullets, no lines, no waiting.

The amount of zombies in the quarry pretty much rules out the redneck solutions from the last few pages. Any sort of heavy machinery would get bogged down or fail.

Waste of ammo and they dont have enough to keep that up long.

Steel cage or not Im not getting in a small death trap that could stall with thousands of walkers surrounding you.

I disagree. Judging by how the walkers walked off the cliff earlier in the episode, they basically just needed to narrow the path to the top. Could use cars, build a fence, use shovels. I just remember the dozer at the building during one of the flashbacks. Reminds me of 300. Easy to defend when the path narrows.

Yeah, I think they could have taken a lot out by putting a fence at a small angle, getting them all to walk towards it, and having them fall to their death. The fence would be pretty stable since a lot of the force would be directed off of the cliff.

I would have left the walker pit alone and reenforced the exits with everything I could find. It was actually pretty perfect. A walker trap that attracted and held every walker in the area and kept them away from Alexandria. What was wrong with that? So the sound attracted more and more, even better.

It's like a giant size fly trap.

Well except for the big rig falling of the cliff from the massive amount of walkers.

And eventually they would break out like they did. It was a numbers game and Rick knew no matter what they did that huge herd would break out at some point.

Or get one of those articulating mowers they use on the levee and mount it on a flat bed. Take the shroud off and put the controls in the cab. Now that could be fun.

There was no way they could move those 18 wheelers on the bottom. So why not just try to collapse the road from the top with an explosive?

The rig at the top was blocking the walkers from waltzing right out. It got pushed off the edge which was assumed to be headed back east towards Alexandria.

Where are these explosives coming from that everyone keeps talking about?

Burning would destroy the brain on most of them

It would also create a huge amount of smoke which would attract more walkers and possibly more human threats

I had not thought about that. Or one of the mowers the power company uses to maintain their right of way. They go thru 4" trees with no problem. I found a picture of one. It's mounted to a skidder. No bogging down.

Then bring in another rig to block that road. Earth moving equipment and heavy machinery are all available. They use them currently to build walls.

Yeah, that was what I kept thinking in that episode. You've shown that basically any vehicle is obtainable by building a wall of cars. Just use all those cars to block the rest of that ramp leading out past where the two 18 wheelers are.

A few might make it through, but toss some paint thinner or old unleaded gas on them and strike a match. All of the old, dried skin, hair and clothes would be like each one of them was carrying their own pile of kindling. It would be a bonfire of epic proportions.

While the smoke might attract other walkers and/or humans (see: Wolves), it wouldn't be nearly as bad as leading them out then their getting loose.
