Just me?
Much slower burn. They actually are spending time storytelling.

The actor playing Gregory. What movie was he in back in the day? Looks so familiar.
Played Mason, director of CTU, on "24".

Im actually not sure why they wouldn't do something like this, at least it slows them down before you go in guns blazing.

Trade disputes
Assassination attempts
Trade wars
Mercenaries
This episode had it all...
I have to say though, that scene with them passing around the ultrasound image may be one of the best in the show.
The other best one I can remember is Rick and Shane walking through the woods talking about how the world has changed.
But my all time favorite shot of the series is still the one in the title scenes of the zombie walking through the field.
Lastly, why did the show entirely skip over a Glenn and Maggie reunion after being away? We never saw that. We always saw them apart, even during their respective rescues in the town!

I didn't want to bump the previous episode, but I have a few questions about it and wonder if (or how hotly) it was discussed...
Why the hell did Rick and Daryl leave the car at the sorghum place? Wouldn't it make more sense for one to follow the other?
And why did they continue searching once they hit the gold mine of food? If food was that short wouldn't it be a priority to get that much food back to Alexandria ASAP?
And why the hell have the whole chase scene with Jesus? Once you knock him off the roof, just drive the hell away!

Because plot. The 2 most capable survivors on the show made one stupid decision after another in that episode and Jesus was portrayed as superhuman, no pun intended. All of that bothered me, yet I still enjoyed the episode for some reason. I guess I was just ready for some new directions and that was clearly being set up.

Why are there so many Brits on this show?
Cheaper than American actors, better trained, and usually not a total shitshow personally. The real question is why does any producer hire any young American actors.

If they all went about making smart decisions and not making mistakes, the show would be pretty boring most of the time. Their frick ups drive the plot. (i.e. Daryl & Rick in that episode, Morgan with the Wolf, Jesse's kids being frick ups, etc.)

They were continuing to look for supplies. I believe Rick said they would take a different route back to Alexandria which is how they came upon the gas station.
Darryl saw the gas station and thought of the soda for the doc.
I think, if you tie someone up and before you leave the scene he ends up on the roof of the truck, you may find him a threat.

Solid...really its about time they meet up w other bigger established groups. You would think by now there are lots of little colonies. I think Jesus' line was the best of the show "Your world is about to get a whole lot bigger"

Even Daryl said they were rusty from being in Alexandria for a while and not makings runs. Them making dumb decisions was to point out how comfortable they became in Alexandria. Michonne said it too.

Now to get back to this episode... Did anyone else laugh out loud after Rick killed that guy, got up, looked around at the locals and said "What?"

I liked that. I always figured that eventually some sort of "future" would have to arise on the show, even if it's just little colonies or safe zones popping up.
With this new place, and the learning that there are others out there, it creates an environment where we can get some conflict between established groups. That was one thing I loved about Jericho when it was on TV...the fights between the factions.
I did think it was a little strange that Rick basically took everybody with him on the road. I feel like a pregnant Maggie should've stayed behind at Alexandria, especially since she was one of the few with farming experience. But it seems like they are trying to build her up a la Deanna, so whatever.
The whole Abraham thing went way over my head though. What was all that about? I honestly thought either he or Rosita was gonna die the way they were showing them more indepth at the beginning of the episode. And I assume there is some sort of significance to the necklace and him losing it later on. But most of that plotline was pretty lost on me.

He was definitely questioning the decision (or mistake) to bring a child into the Zombie Apocalypse, and I think at the end passing around the picture he realized that it's the only way for humankind to advance. He was also crushing on Sasha pretty hard, maybe he's trying to make a Rosita/Abraham/Sasha tri-cultural threeway happen?

I agree. I figured they would either create another plot line where there is a possible cure, but they have to travel to someplace far to explore it, or where they would essentially just start a new civilization with smaller fortresses and communities either working together or fighting with each other. Logically, that is how it would likely play out in a ZA after some of the initial dust has settled. I think we are past the days of the group being on the road unless they are traveling somewhere to find a cure.

That's what I mean. At some points he was crushing on Sasha (no idea why, she sucks). Then others we see him all in love with Rosita and asking Glenn about where babies come from and all that. Then sometimes he was just sort of indifferent.
He was all over the map, and I just didn't understand what it was all supposed to mean. I also couldn't tell how long before those flashbacks with Rosita were, but I assumed they had to be fairly recent due to the necklace.

Maybe that was the point? It seems like Abe doesnt know what he wants and keeps going back and forth. And its clear he still hasnt gotten over the breakdown he had.

When he almost killed the man, he then listened to what he had to say. The man talked about seeing or hearing the most important person to him, which was his wife who has passed away. When Abraham was being choked I think he heard a voice? I haven't given a rewatch, but when he got up the rosita necklace was left behind. I took it as him leaving her behind. I think he wants sasha, which is dumb. He's got a good thing going.
With that, I think he's afraid to have another family. And rosita would be all about that, where as sasha would not be.
