lots of people complaining that it is a Daryl and Beth episode

I figured this would be a shorter than usual thread and it's about half as many pages as normal. I liked where they ended the episode, but like most filler episodes, it really didn't need the time they took to journey there. They could have easily fit the same story into half the episode with another story line. Still, no major complaints other than too much filler.

I enjoyed this episode. They are setting this up for Daryle/Beth to possibly be more. This also helped make Beth more of an equal and grown up and less of a helpless girl.

How old is Beth supposed to be in the TWD?

i haven't watched this whole episode yet but how the walkers appear out of nowhere is straight retarded

There are a couple of things I just haven't been able to get past with this show, 1) is the terrible acting. I'm sorry but it is just impossible to go from True Detective to TWD and not see how pathetic the acting is.

2)Is your above point, they keep trying to artificially create drama by having walkers come out of nowhere. Every scene is a walker coming out from a door or some hidden spot, I'm sorry but they have gone through great lengths to show us how much noise these walkers make and how attracted they are to noise... they should not be surprising anyone at this point. It is just really lazy writing iyam.

I don't disagree with your overall point, but we don't know how long specific zombies have been zombies. Those zombies hanging in the clubhouse were obviously not some of the first to turn. They stuck around as regular people long enough to lose all hope and have a mass suicide. Could have happened a few weeks ago.

I don't think it changes your point that we don't know how long they had been zombies, but I saw somewhere (Talking Dead maybe?) that the country club scene was supposed to be the result of a class conflict between the staff of the club and the members. Thus the "Rich Bitch" sign on that one dead lady.

Personally, once I buy into a premise that most of humanity have become walking dead creatures, things like how long they take to decompose don't really throw me off.

I really like what Gimple is doing with this season. You can tell he was dealt a rough hand with the way Mazzara left the Governor arc last year. He actually did great with wrapping that up, and now the Walking Dead that is all his is awesome. Early reviews was last nights episode would suck but I was presently surprised. Maybe it "sucked" because it was so Beth/Daryl heavy and the people writing those reviews were admitted Daryl/Carol shippers.

I enjoyed the episode mainly because it allowed some fleshing out of Beth's character (who has been more of an ornament than a real character ever since she was introduced... much like T-Dawg) as well as Daryl's character.

Speaking of the latter, I like that he was nothing before the shite hit the fan. It just feels right with his character.

the walking dead has a large cast. unlike a show like Breaking Bad where the focus is on one or two characters, this show takes a lot of different viewpoints. So i'm content with the quality of last night's episode. If not for the fact that Emily is hot and Daryl may be the best character on the show.

probably wont see too much of Daryl and Beth for an episode or two.

That's what I would expect too.

Except - In the preview, they showed two characters who were standing side by clasp hands (ie: "holding hands"). Couldn't really tell who it was but I'd think those two would be on the short list. Others I guess it could be would be Rick and Michone or maybe Bob the alcoholic medic and the girl that is with him and Maggie (I think she's Tyrese's sister).

Anybody catch who it was?

I really thought Daryl and Beth were going to hook up once she got some 'shine in her.

Was able to find the preview clip (they showed it as "next time on Walking Dead" at the end of the show last night):

LINK
Definitely looks to be Darryl and Beth. Of course one of the zombies in that clip looks just like Frankenstein's monster so who knows, it may be a fantasy segment.

yeah i think Daryl fricked that situation up, its been like..what a year at least? most chicks are dead and you have one of the few hot ones left and she wants to play drinking games with you alone, on a kick to do things she's never done before and get hammered while doing so?

shite..that's THE golden opportunity.

Last night’s episode is what is both good and bad about the series. It’s good in that, we get to see all kinds of different scenarios (like the clubhouse) of what would happen in the ZA. It’s bad in that, we have extended and sometimes, inefficient airtime of character development.

But, that’s what makes TWD great, it lets your imagination fill in the gaps of scenes like the country club… which can be much more interesting than what they put on film.

Did Daryl talk about riding in Endymion on talking dead?

I haven't been impressed with the second half of the season. I do agree character development is obviously important because it connects us to them, but the, as you so well put it,

inefficient airtime of character development
has driven me crazy. Maybe it's because True Detective is on at the same time and i'm obsessed with that show.

I agree 100%. Going from the camp in the woods to the country club to the shack was great. A different survival scenario in each setting.

I think this was one of the best episodes in a long time.

I do too.

I DO find it hilarious that every week, you have "fans" that criticize EVERY LITTLE THING that the show does.

i just wonder what these people want? constant killing of zombies for an hour?

i mean really... what are the expectations?

i like how they draw things out and this last episode was great at answering a few questions.

one question from a friend came up:

Why did some of the dead bodies not turn into walkers when they died?
