I alwayd got the impression that the reason Sodom and Gomorrah were sinful because of their predilections towards rape, not homosexuality.

It wasn't just homosexuality. It was their wickedness in general.

There were many sins that led to the destruction of Sodom. Pride, homosexuality, sexual promiscuity, gluttony, prosperity while neglecting the poor and needy, and many others.

Sadly the Church is just as guilty as the world in many of those areas, we just feel the need to point to the homosexual community while neglecting to look at our own lives.

trying to get through the entire 2 hours but this is just awful.

its like they took the reenactments from their documentary films, pieced them together, slapped a new filter on it, and called it a day. Moses and Noah are both especially terrible.

Whether you believe in God or evolution, at some point in history there were family members having sex in order for the species to continue

Why wouldn't you? Incest is something that has been around forever. It's 100% plausible and considering the times, not surprising

I was pleasantly surprised overall. Loved the Ninja angels. Was a little thrown back by a Noah with a heavy scottish accent but not really bothred. I liked the way that Sarah went from "I'm barren, go have sex and have a baby with the handmaiden" to "we have our own son now, throw your first son and his mother out". Rang true for a woman.

They definitely whitewashed the Lot offering his daughters up to the crowd part. I'm curious to see if they will skip over the part where God tells the chosen people to put everyone, men women and children to the sword when they conquer Canan then gets really ticked off when they spare a few women.

Funny how the stories become even more ridiculous when put on TV

My exact thoughts.

But the ninja angels were bad arse. I'm more than cool with them taking liberty with the story. I mean, not like the bible gives a ton of detail so whose to say there wasn't ninja angles fricking up the sodomites?

Can we keep this discussion spoiler free? Some of us haven't read the graphic novels the series is based on. Sorry we aren't all nerds who read comics!

Well scripture does say that the angels struck them down as well as blinding the men....so clearly they were ninjas..

One other thing I thought was cool - After the Israelites had made it across the Red Sea and it closed back over the Pharo's soldiers, one of the extras did a great Mel Gibson shout out, yelling FREEEEDOOMMM.

I have always found it hard to understand how the Israelites who witnessed all of the miracles from God could ever doubt him? With their own eyes, they had just witnessed all of the plagues placed on the Egyptians, they crossed the Red Sea, which God had parted for them, and yet, they continued to doubt in Him.

No wonder the Jews are the most persecuted people of all time.

They also took like 40 years to cross a desert which you can walk across in a few weeks (at least according to the homily from our priest this weekend). So, maybe they just didn't have themselves together at all.

Pretty sure a couple of the editors along the way took a few liberties before we got down to todays version (whichever one you consider correct).

Yea, the guy playing Moses didn't do it for me. And while the special effects were decent, the acting overall was not very good.

Serious question: What miracles has God performed recently that would be the equivalent of parting the Red Sea?
