Beat me to it. Really I see the entire Old testament as just one big symbolic foreshadowing. To me the Old Testament makes little sense unless in light of the New Testament. I'm sure a Jew would disagree.
There really is a lot to be taken out of the OT. Great stories of faith, perseverance, and the glory of God.

There is a parallel somewhere in the Bible about a father killing his son. Hmmm. I think it's in the New Testament somewhere. Can't remember.
Boom

you want to ban him for a difference of opinion? unless you mean to apply this to everyone discussing the bible that seems odd... well, maybe not odd so much as one-sided

I never realized the bible had so much action. Oh and Lott is a punk for going to Gomorrah after he got captured once

Hey man, just trying to make sense of it all. Surely there was someone more qualified for the leadership position...but then we wouldn't have Moses, who was obviously necessary.

No, I want to ban him for trolling this thread. It's a discussion of the show, not a religious debate thread.

Moses wandered in the desert for a while too. lol

I don't think he's trolling so much as pointing out how ridiculous some of the stuff reads today
I do think everyone should be familiar with the Bible (because of how much English literature etc refers to it) but you can't discuss it without discussing how completely amoral it really is by our modern standards

Because of the material, it's both. Sorry if my POV is different than yours and my questions/comments are offensive
Not all that sorry actually

this show adds even further proof to the nonsense of organized religion. within 30 minutes into this show my Facebook was filled up with numerous post from Baptist, Catholics, Mormons, Atheist, and others about what the "real" truth is and what isn't.

40 years? After two weeks I would have been questioning his judgment

Wait until the part where God commands Joshua to commit mass genocide on the people of Palestine. Lot of action packed massacring of women and children. Or the part when God starts punishing idolators and their descendants down to the third and fourth generations. Can't wait.

1 hour for Adam through Moses. 1 hour on Moses... ?

What I don't get. Yaweh goes to great length to save his people from the Egyptians, but didn't do anything to stop Hitler.

I'd consider it essentially one hour on Abraham and one hour on Moses. They had to set the scene a little bit before Abraham. They can't do all the stories. I know they do Daniel, David and Goliath, and Samson and Delilah among others.
