Dang, this thread has been very slow this week. Not sure if it was the site outage or what but I expected to see more discussion.
The episode moved slowly (not usual for the show) but it was pretty solid. We got some Gus and Mike, some Jimmy in Jail, some Kim being her awesome self. Lots of good stuff.

Seems to be a theme of the show. Same with BB. I don't mind slow burns, but this show is excruciatingly slow at times. And I wouldn't even mind that so much if it didn't feel like every single shot was trying so hard to be important or artsy or things like that.
I know I will get hated on for this opinion, but sometimes I feel like VG buys into himself a little too much and tries too hard. He's obviously a fantastic storyteller and director, but man every shot doesn't have to be a closeup of something random, or overly symbolic. When you try to make very single thing unique and symbolic, then nothing is.
That being said, I am glad Gus is finally on the show. Now we can finally get things rolling (albeit at a snail's pace) toward things coming together with Saul Goodman and Mike and all that. I hope they don't drag this show out too much, and that VG has a solid vision for how the whole things plays out (which will make it more concise and complete of a story).

Before last night's show, I watch the previous episode again.
After Jimmy breaks into Chuck's house, the PI goes to intervene between Chuck and Jimmy and Howard holds him back.
Why did he do this?
I keep getting the feeling that Howard is getting tired of Chuck's bullshite with trying to ruin Jimmy but I was thinking Howard was holding the PI back to let Jimmy continue to ruin himself.

I can see the "Gilligan tries to hard to be artsy" line of thought. But he's so damned good at putting a quality show together that, so far at least, it has worked for him.

Mike pretending to be a hunter so they wouldn't suspect anything when he shot the cocaine shoes

Oh I agree completely. And I absolutely love BCS.

Just watched it.
Who would have thought Mike and Gus would come together because of their shared disdain for Hector.
Pretty action packed episode.

I thought it was kind of cool that Gus said pretty much the same thing to Mike about Hector as said to the Cartel about Walt (for the Tuco incident) in BB. Pretty much said: "I am doing business with this person and I need him alive - for now". Dude was consistent, you got to give him that.

I am starting to buy into the theory that Saul Goodman is not just one person. I am wondering if during the events of Breaking Bad if Kim was a silent partner. So far Kim is starting to accept some of Jimmy's shadier ways and I am wondering if she finally will just help push him that direction and help advise from a distance.
This was her chance to get pissed and get away and she is fully by his side. We also saw the KC Royals easter egg in Gene's flash forward. Is it possible she is now on the run with him due to her involvement?

Look at it like this. If Jimmy gets himself into serious trouble at the hands of Chuck, then Jimmy will finally have enought of Chucks shite. Jimmy then stops covering for Chuck as he said while waiting on the cops to arrive. If Jimmy isn't there for Chuck when he has an episode, Chuck is going to land in the crazy house.

Does anyone think Gus has a twin? One works at the restaurant and the other is the one dressed in black.
I see that Marked for Death is back in the cable rotation.

What was that? I must have missed that...I don't remember seeing a b&w flash forward at all last night.

I wouldn't mind a twist like that. But I think it's a bit of a long shot. We haven't had any evidence at all that she was any type of silent partner or anything in BB.
Then again, I've been rewatching BB recently and when he was discussing money laundering with Walt, Saul made a comment about how much harder (or easier maybe) it was back in the '80's implying he had been doing such things for a really long time. I'm not sure what the time frame for BCS is but that doesn't seem to jive with the Jimmy we've seen. So I think they can make some adjustments to the BB established storyline from time to time.
Posted on 4/25/17 at 6:23 pm to Methuselah
Even if I am am right about her being Saul's partner you wouldn't have seen any evidence in BB. They hadn't planned it then. I think they are trying to write it in now after the fact.

Like I said, I wouldn't have a problem with it. But it does kind of scream RETCON.

That may change by next season or by the end of this one. As Jimmy becomes more distant shots may be longer, and Jimmy color scheme may change to "balance" out.
Etc.
I look at the seasons he is involved with, in the same light as what concept albums are in music.

How many seasons are planned? It seems like this is shaping up to be a turning point type of season.
I guess they can milk a few episodes of Mike deciding if he wants to become the New Mexico drug kingpin's top enforcer but his journey looks to be coming up on his Breaking Bad character, Gus needs to build his empire and Jimmy probably needs one more good luck in the balls to finish his journey but how many more seasons is That? One, maybe two?
