could be a post-breaking bad season too.
And whilst ongoing..like, when Walt leaves sauls office..what does he do?
Having to pull strings and react to Walt being in his life.

Possible stupid question about the "cocaine shoes"....was the plan all along to get them busted at the checkpoint, or did Mike see another opportunity and called an audible there? If that was the plan, there was alot of faith involved expecting the truck to park where it did, which is why I thought Mike might've thought of that idea on the spot...

I think it was the plan all along. The truck had to go through that point to get back to the border, I thought.
Mike obviously wanted to avoid civilian casualties this time and either it looks like he actually convinced Gus to think bigger picture. Gus seemed to want him to simply rip off another truck but Mike looks to be pointing the feds in the direction of the front company/entire operation.
Will be weird but cool if Mike kind of indirectly sets everything in Breaking Bad in motion by that one action.

Right, I knew the truck had to go through the checkpoint...but like I said, what happened seemed too perfect to plan in advance, because what are the odds the truck would be parked right under the shoes? Part of me wondered if a more diabolical plan was in place, but Mike saw another opportunity and took it, maybe even taking a "half measure" there?
I only watched the episode once, so maybe I missed something...

Gus or his people probably know the regular routine Hector's guys go through.

The truck didn't "park" under the shoes, it stopped at a stop sign.
Mike's aim is ridiculous, but you gotta suspend some disbelief and accept that Mike's a badass.

Mike's definitely a badass, no arguments there.
I've been a loyal and satisfied fan all along, but if that was supposed to be the plan which was drawn up from the beginning, I think the writers might've outsmarted themselves a bit there. Don't get me wrong, I was still entertained by what happened...but I dunno, I REALLY had to suspend disbelief for that, lol

Yep. Walking the Earth makes a good point, we don't know the conversation between Mike and Gus. But it had to have been an agreed upon plan for the doctor to be waiting for Mike on the other side of the border with the powder.
I don't remember if it was mentioned on this thread, but that was the doctor who treated Gus after they poisoned the cartel in Breaking Bad, so there's a trust relationship there.

Plan all along. He's probably done recon and watched where they park.

Didn't he say he was a sniper in Vietnam last season?

They've given us enough scenes with Mike doing obsessive recon to just assume he does it other times.

I'd have to rewatch. When he met with the gun dealer in the motel room, he mentioned something about Vietnam.

It's still kind of funny from a "goal" standpoint. "Our goal is to get these guys in trouble with the DEA/Border Control"
"OK, this is what we'll do.. "

They stop there on every run so they can ditch their guns in the hiding spot before approaching the US checkpoint.
Given the remoteness and lack of traffic Mike could assume (based on prior surveillance) they would stop the truck in the middle of the road, directly under the shoes.

I was thinking that the Vet that got Mike the tracking device and the shady body-guard jobs was who put him in contact with the Doctor for the cocaine.
I may be wrong.I just don't see Gus as getting involved like that.Gus just let Mike know that short of killing Hector,he could frick with his business all he wanted.

Looked to me that Mike planned it exactly the way it went. They did have to drive under the shoes, it is true. But once the cocaine sifted down onto the truck they were busted.

Yes Mike did say he was a sniper in Viet Nam.
Using this type rifle.
That is Carlos Hathcock of course.

Dang, this thread has been very slow this week
The site was down one hour after the show aired and then basically the entire next day. It missed the window of discussion.
